What's good to watch on Netflix

Dang, that sounds cool. Not available anymore on Netflix.

Do they still have their DVD service? I swore they cut that, but Google is returning results saying this series is available through the DVD service.

EDIT: apparently it's alive and well. And a more current selection too. But some restrictions (limit on DVD's at a time, limit per month) though they offer different pricing tiers.

The Dassey case may actually be more of a sham then SA's. They pretty much designed the case against him with the way they surgically extracted the information they wanted to hear, then presented it under the guise of a confession.

I know we all hear confession and think it's open and shut, but so often there's shady circumstances around how they got to that conclusion. And I know it goes the other way too, because your lawyer will never want you to openly confess to a crime and even someone in their right mind will be convinced by their lawyer to pull the confession.

They could have gotten a confession out of Dassey saying the sky is in fact green and ran with it. And yes, a defense lawyer could totally argue to within a reasonable doubt that the sky is not blue as well if that were to support his defense. The justice system is not perfect, that's the one thing we know for sure.

I actually think Dassey is completely innocent. When he had to write down his innocence, the story was always the same. When he was coached through telling a story that didn't happen, he could never nail down the same story. Obviously, he had some learning disability and I think that very reason is why. That disability wouldn't allow him to lie and keep lying. Of all the people in this case, Brendan may be the most truly honest of them all. But it got out there there first that he confessed and that was never wiped clean from people's mind even when it was so obviously coerced out of him. Just like how they keep talking about how SA was a rapist when he was completely exonerated. That means IT DID NOT HAPPEN. But that reputation will always follow him and will always be used in the case against him publicly or privately. He was behind the 8-ball to start, completely unfairly. That's NOT how our justice system works.

I just can't believe they didn't even try to follow up on other leads. They could have actually solved this thing. And maybe easily!But they didn't even try. Hell, SA's rape case was solved FOR them, and they didn't do anything about it. We/I shouldn't be so shocked.

I don't know how his case wasn't overturned. Clearly he was manipulated.
Not only that, but if what he said was true, where's the evidence!?! If they slit her throat, wouldn't there be blood and DNA all over that bedroom?
The Avery's weren't exactly clean people. His room looked like Sandford and Son episode.
No way they would be able to clean every spec of blood out of that room.

People confess to crimes they didn't commit every day. The police don't charge them until they can prove it.

I also believe SA was innocent.
Yes, the blocking of calls looks bad, but maybe he just had a crush on her and wanted to make sure still came out. That doesn't mean he killed her.

And the bullet being found in the garage is a joke too. If he shot her there, where's the blood splatter?
They couldn't find one drop.
So the only defense for that would be that Avery moved the bullet. Why? If he's willing to cover up evidence by burning bodies and cellphones, why not add the bullet to the pile?
And why not crush the car?

His sweat on the car doesn't bother me either. She drove his car to his place. A place that salvages car parts. Who's to say he didn't look at her vehicle either? Maybe she was looking to see if they'd be willing to buy it or was asking for some spare parts?

The missing voice messages on the phone also trouble me. As does the ex-boyfriend having no clue what 4-hour block of day he might have gone to her house looking for her.
Or the fact that the first thing he thought of was cracking her password and looking at her cellphone logs.

Avery thinks his brother Chuckie killed her. He has a history of stalking women, violence and I think he may have even had a run-in with Teresa.

Regardless of who killed her, I think Manitowac police were looking to string Avery up the minute it was discovered he was the last to see her.
They went through his house and property several times and found nothing.
They become desperate so they force a confession out of a kid who has the IQ of a 7 year old.
Then they start planting evidence around the yard.

They were embarrassed and angry that a backwater hick made them look bad in the rape case, and were now suing them and even going after their jobs.

The whole thing stinks and to be honest, I don't believe a thing out of Kratz mouth.
He knew Brandon's story didn't match the crime scene and there was ZERO DNA evidence linking him to anything in that trailer.
To send an innocent, simple-minded kid up the river is appalling and I hope he gets his in the future.

The part of Avery's younger brother Earl is interesting. Especially where he hides from DNA testing as well as a cadaver dog alerting his golfcart.
He was also convicted of molesting his daughters.

If there truly was other other bodies in that burn pile, this may explain how they got there.

This family certainly sounds messed-up.
And while I know the documentary is painting Steven in a good light, there does seem to be some good in him.
For instance, he didn't blame the rape victim for the 18 years he spent in prison.
In fact, they interviewed her and she said he was overly nice and forgiving to her.
That doesn't sound like a malicious person. To have that kind of forgiveness is incredible.

And if you look at his past crimes of simple B&E's, it doesn't look like he's a hardened criminal capable of rape and murder.
But someone who's molested his own daughters like Earl? Or Chuckie who raped his wife?
Wouldn't those two be the first people you'd investigate?

And yet the only person investigated was Steven.

I have a feeling that when science is able to develop a concrete method of testing EDTA in blood, we'll find out whether Steven did it or not.
And if that does prove him innocent, oh boy. Kratz, Lenk and Colbourn should all rot in jail for the rest of their lives.

We watched a documentary called Crazy Love last night. My wife watched it last weekend when I was gorging on football. She liked it and wanted me to see it so we could discuss it. I won't go in too much detail because I don't want to spoil anything, but it was a pretty interesting story.... and of course crazy. It took about 20 minutes to really get to the meat and potatoes of the story, but I stuck with it and didn't regret it.

Generation War.

Basically the German equivalent of Band of Brothers. There's still a hint of whitewashing of German war guilt IMO, but worth a watch if you want a German perspective of fighting on the Eastern Front.

It really takes a lot for a TV show, especially from one of the main networks, to capture my attention any longer. They can seem cookie cutter, except for the comedies, it seems. What TV shows are you watching?

On TV I'm watching Chicago Fire and PD (NBC), Big Bang Theory, North Woods Law (Animal Planet), a bunch of cooking competition shows, Shark Tank, Gotham. And I was watching Flash, Arrow and Agents of Shield but I have decided to watch those through Netflix. On Netflix I have watched Breaking Bad, Sons of Anarchy, Dexter, Daredevil. And in my queue I have The Office, Jessica Jones, Making a Murderer, HIMYM, Rescue Me, and some others I can't think of off the top of my head. On HBO I have watched Silicon Valley and S1 of Game of Thrones and Ballers. On Showtime Ray Donovan.

Just started up a show called Helix (originally on SyFy). Only an episode in but there's a mysterious virus created/found in an experimental lab in the Arctic. Definitely wanna keep up with this one, though.

Netflix has a ton of stand-up comedy which is always good to throw on late too. Checked out Tom Segura the other night. Decent. The intro might have actually been the funniest part...

Watched the first episode of Nurse Jackie.

Enjoyed it.

Can't say how much I'm enjoying Nurse Jackie. It has comedy, drama and a real life "atmosphere" that makes it great IMO.

I recommend it for anyone looking to start watching a series.

I stumbled across Dark Matter and ran through season 1. Quickly became one of those shows that I love watching late night when I can shut my brain off but still be entertained. And it helps to watch it in between episodes of the Expanse where I have no idea whats going on because I can't keep the factions straight.
