You don't need to entirely finish Arrow to start flash, but at very least watch first 2 seasons of Arrow beforehand. Then if possible, you could watch episodes side by side after since S1 of Flash ran on tv during same time as s3 of arrow.

2 other shows if you're interested are Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl. Legends had an episode on s4 of arrow+s2 of flash to help start up the series. It also features some secondary characters from both shows.

Supergirl for most part you can watch without seeing other shows since it doesn't take place on the same "Earth" and has really only 1 crossover episode featuring 1 character from another show.

Just finished up Santa Clarita Diet. I thought it was pretty damn good. Always liked Drew Barrymore and was surprised at how funny Timothy Olyphant is. Solid show all around. Also the daughter is a great character as well with her and the neighbor having good chemistry. Thought it was a fun show.

Re: What's good to watch on Netflix

Netflix is removing the star ratings and replacing it with a more simple thumbs up or down.

I actually welcome this. The star rating was imperfect for me. Netflix also confirmed it didn't correlate with their data.

Users routinely rated documentaries higher than silly comedy films, yet users watched more silly comedy films. This new system better aligns with user activity.

There is also a new match system that will show you how much a movie or show fits your Netflix determined preferences. If it's below 50% it won't show you a match.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

I always thought them stars were users being idiots. Some seemed accurate but others were headscratchers.

The stars are actually not overall user ratings. They were ratings by users Netflix determined had similar interests as you to determine what you might like or not like based on their algorithm.

It confused me at first when I read an article saying Fuller House was the worst rated show on Netflix. It's like 4.75 stars in my app.

Somehow Netflix thinks I'd enjoy it. I didn't. So I must have watched or added something that made them feel that way.

Despite how often I avoid Fuller House it remains a show Netflix believes I would love.

Re: What's good to watch on Netflix

I only ever rated anything on Netflix 1 or 5 stars anyway, so the thumbs up and down is basically the same. The interesting thing to me is the idea that people rate documentaries higher but watch more comedies, and that Netflix thinks that this is contradictory in some way. It sounds just like a function of people, we don't watch the best thing all the time we watch whatever we can or just put stuff on in the background. I'm not sure what people watch is a good indicator of what they like in all cases, what if you had a friend over and wanted to watch a dumb movie, or just put Netflix on in the background for noise? It doesn't really mean that you like them more than documentaries or think they're better, only that they are more convenient in the time you have. It'll be interesting to see how the new system plays out. It worries me in the same way Google and Facebook developing algorithms does. I feel like if I spend a few weeks watching Friends, the only recommendations will be stuff like HIMYM and other sitcoms which given how difficult it is to find stuff on Netflix sometimes, will have an affect on people's habits. Watch reality shows and they show you more reality shows, deeper and deeper down the rabbit hole.

What you said is exactly what Netflix feels. They know people watch what they feel like watching, not necessarily what's better.

That was the issue with the star rating for Netflix. It was putting too much weight on 5 star ratings for things people consider good but don't necessarily match their viewing habits. It was contradictory to how Netflix behaves.

Netflix operates off our viewing habits. But they didn't give us the tools to better represent that with our ratings.

The thumbs up now says, "I watch this and like it." Or "I hate this and will never watch it."

Now those 5 star documentaries are weighted equally with the 3 star comedies. So Netflix can better feed us content we will watch regardless if we think it's great or just okay because what's most important is: do I want to watch this?

Halt and Catch Fire. Season 3 was added recently. Great show if you are a fan of computers, or not a fan of computers!

Despite the bad reviews this newest Marvel/Netflix effort is getting I'll most likely binge watch it this weekend.

I know it isn't Netflix, but I've been watching Legion (on demand) and its amazing to me. Absolutely love that show, I'm 3 episodes in and I'll try to finish out the first season this weekend as well.

I didn't know Iron Fist is getting roasted. Oh well. I definitely plan on binge watching Iron Fist, Legion, and Walking Dead over my spring break

Watched the first episode tonight. My wife and I both like the premise, but there is some serious cheesiness going on in it. Seems a lot lighter than most of Marvel's Netflix offerings.
