Re: What's good to watch on Netflix

Just finished 3 seasons of Halt and Catch Fire. Really a super great show for us nerds who are in their 40s and grew up in the 80's. It was a wonderful time to watch the PC market gel from being a big IBM box into what it has become today and this show is about that time period.

In the show some people come together to try to create an IBM XT clone is the premise. Very highly recommended if you love tech, especially more so if you were a part of that time period.

The technical talk is spot on, some of it is even beyond my tech knowledge and I'm a real computer nerd, LOL. I guess they had IBM engineers consult to verify the accuracy of the show.

Check it out fellow nerds! Very good watch and a great binge, it's an AMC show but all three seasons are on Netflix. Season 4, which will most likely be the last season, is coming soon and will be all about that crazy thing they call the world wide web !!!

I'm a younger techie but yeah, Halt and Catch Fire is amazing. I got into it at first for the tech aspect and wanting to see something set in the era, but season 3 blew the doors off acting wise, it was incredible IMO.

I must be on a different Astral plane or dimension and am fortunate to see the good version of Ironfist. Can someone explain why this show isn't good?

It's on par with the other Netflix Marvel shows.

            @All -

Just wanted to check with my OS peeps regarding an issue that seems to be occurring with Dolby Vision....

Can you all do me a favor and check if Dolby Vision/HDR is kicking in for you for the following programs:

            Jessica Jones
Spark (its a 3 minute clip that is Dolby Vision)
            Iron Fist

I am gonna try and watch Death Note (the anime) before the live action version hits Netflix. From what I can tell it seems like Netflix has the whole series. I knew nothing about it up until recently

It is good, I was thinking it was going to sink but it ended up pretty good. Although speaking for myself, I wouldn't say it's on par with Luke Cage or DD. Actually I'd have it close to JJ. Not sure in my book if Iron Fist is 3rd or 4th of the 4. I'm not condemning it, I liked it a lot.

Hard for me to rank them because I really liked Jessica Jones but I also really liked Luke Cage and both seasons of Daredevil.

Watching episode 6 or 7, it really hit me how planned this entire TV verse is. So many connections. It's literally run like 4 connected comic book series on screen.

So I don't have Dolby Vision but I do have HDR10 and it does kick into HDR mode for those shows on my Samsung Smart TV Netflix app, Xbox One S Netflix app, and also my Roku Premiere+ Netflix app. If your set does DV it should do HDR10 as well so regardless those Netflix shows should be playing in HDR on your set.

Alright Jare you sucked me in.

I already finished up Iron Fist.

I had started watching One Punch Man on Netflix (which I'm digging big time). But now I'm gonna go ahead and jump into Death Note as well. Let's see how many I can knock out today before work tonight lol.

Also...Am thinking about getting a Roku Premiere+...How has your experience been? Mainly your experience with the WatchESPN app...Any Loading issues/buffering? I noticed with my Roku 3, that the dreaded 'Loading' screen would happen often compared to other apps (HGTV, Netflix, etc.)...

Lol. It's actually kind of funny how I ended up with all that. So my TV is a 2015 Samsung SUHD which can play HDR content but software updates needed to be made by Samsung. So I got impatient with the TV Netflix app not playing HDR when the TV Amazon app had been working for almost a year. Decided to get the Premiere+ because I was told that it would work. Low and behold it didn't because apparently it could detect which model TV I had and that one wasn't "ready" yet for Netflix (again Amazon did fine). Also was bummed because the audio output will not convert DD+ to DD and my Sonos system can only decode DD so most streaming services just dump everything in stereo. I was going to return it but then all the other apps available on it run so much smoother then my Smart TV and my original Xbox One (Plex, EspnWatch, kids programing, etc). Figured I'd keep it for that stuff. Then I had been looking for a 4k Blu Ray player and the Xbox One S was the best bang for the buck and (I believe it was you) was told on OS that Costco had a killer deal on the One S. So now I have a dumb amount of streaming devices lol. Oh and the Netflix TV app updated like 2 weeks later and I had HDR on both the TV and Roku apps. Figures.

As for Netflix and Amazon I use my Smart TV app because I can get DD when streaming and my surround system isn't going to waste.

I use the Premiere+ for everything else because it is smoother, more responsive, and just plain better. WatchEspn works great on it. Was streaming March Madness on their app the last few weeks and it was clear as day with no buffering at all. I don't know if you use Plex but their Roku app is top notch. FYI I do have it hard-lined instead of Wifi.

I honestly haven't used the One S for really any apps just because they don't really offer anything I don't already have available. I did check out the Netflix and Amazon app and the both worked very good with 4K HDR streams getting up to max resolution pretty damn quick. On my original Xbox One the buffering would take forever to get to max quality. So that's a nice improvement.

I'm sure that was way more info then you wanted or needed lol but there it is.
