The Queen's Gambit. Finished it yesterday & loved it from start to finish. Even if you don't know chess it's still a great coming of age story. Highly recommended.

Watched the new documentary Age of Samurai(Netflix created). Very good series; definitely learned a lot about that era of history and it was a pretty well produced series. The battle scenes felt a little "light"; you never quite feel like you're watching a battle with 10000s of troops....more like 10, lol. That criticism aside, still quite good.

Just a warning...there are some graphic suicide scenes (seppuku) and execution scenes that even made me cringe, and I don't do that often.

I cannot help but think of Oliver Queen each time I see this series when scrolling thru Netflix.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

Wife and I watched The Serpent. (Limited Series) To find out this is based on a true story and what happened during that time was shocking.

Not gonna say too much more, but I highly recommend a watch

Sorry to hear about the passing of Helen McCrory who played "Polly" on Peaky Blinders. Her husband was Damien Lewis. She was only 52.

Really liked her as Villefort's wife in the 2002 "Count of Monte Cristo" movie too. Solid actress, RIP.

She was also Narcissa Malfoy from the Harry Potter movies. Gone too young.

She was tremendous as Polly. A very underrated actress.

                          Shadow and Bone

Watched the first 3 episodes so far. The main character is honestly a little annoying, as is her childhood friend. Despite that though I am intrigued in the series. There is an interesting setting that it all takes place in. Also, the cast isn't all bad. A few of the side characters are a lot of fun, and I'm excited to see more out of them.

                          Spoiler

Edit - I ended up binging 6.5 episodes. The early episodes offered an intriguing premise, but the characters and their actions really went down hill after a few episodes. Don't waste your time.

Any one watch Outlander? First 4 seasons on Netflix. Starz has the most recent season 5 one week free trial. Interesting enough show.

I watched the first few seasons because I like history, but it's quite the "bodice ripper" which isn't really my style. Great looking show though. There is so much great cinematography on TV these days.
