I'm pretty sure Milton was shown being at the pits a few episodes ago.

Not a big deal or anything, just thought it was funny they've got heavy duty trucks after the outbreak. Also, the Hyundai has one hell of a coat to remain clean the entire time.
I know, I mean I know they are sponsored by Hyundai and wanna keep it clean, but damn unless they wash and polish that thing everyday then there is no way it still looks like that. And I feel like in an apocalypse, a clean car should be at the bottom of the to-do list

He was. I want to say it was Milton, but I think they want to surprise us, so I dunno too much!

I thought it was pretty obvious that it was Milton…

                1) You could see him drifting away from the governor in the episode.
                2) The part where Gov asks Tyrese where he got the gas from, and he doesn't know, pretty much means that there's a select few people who know where gas is located. Milton being the Dr. of Woodbury makes him one of those people.
                3) At the end, the Governor looks right at Milton and says that he already knows who burned the pit… pretty sure that's the giveaway right there.
                4) To say it was Merle is pretty far fetched since for one, Merle doesn't have both hands to be able to put on gloves..., two the group doesn't have access to a vehicle like the one shown... so yeah, it wasn't Merle.

Since it's already been confirmed who it was, I'm just going to point out.. You don't need two hands to put on gloves. So, that argument goes right out the window.

Two, nobody knows what the group took the last time the were in Woodbury. There was too much going on to follow every character during the mini-war, so no one knows if someone snuck back into the Governor's room.

Haha, good point, it just seemed better in my head that I forgot about the ol' using the chin and chest technique

But yeah, it just seemed pretty obvious because of the attire. The outfit the character wore is an outfit we've seen Milton in all throughout the season, but haven't seen Merle/anyone else in once. Let alone the fact that Milton had on the same (or strikingly similar) outfit (the trench coat and what not) in the scene after, during his talk with the Governor. Pretty big giveaway to me.

As for the SUV used, that is true, we don't know, but I highly doubt they went back into Woodbury, with little ammo (they were running out from what I remember) and when they already got what they came for (Glenn and Maggie). Plus, I'm sure if they had stolen the vehicle, when the group regrouped at the Hyundai, Daryl and Merle went walking into the woods, and Rick, Michonne, Glenn and Maggie left in the Hyundai, if memory serves me correctly, I'm sure Rick woulda been more than willing to at least give Daryl the keys to the vehicle for all he had done for the group, which didn't happen.

Those are just my thoughts/reasonings though.

Even though it's been proven that it was Milton, I'm still going to argue. Like BB said, you don't need 2 gloves to put it on. Hell, you don't even need gloves that fit right, right OJ?

And 2, there's a million stranded vehicles on the road. I'm pretty sure anyone, including Merle could of found one that still ran and used it to go to the pits.

So yeah, your reasoning doesn't make sense.

Back to the story, completely out of character for Milton to be doing this. This is the same guy that didn't want to run away with Andrea, didn't want to confront the Governor, yet was willing to steal an SUV, steal gas, drive to the pits, and then burn the walkers. And it doesn't make sense because doing so doesn't really deter the plan that the governor had for the prison group.

Hahaha at the OJ line. But to each his own. Yes there's many cars, but has Merle ever been seen with a trench coat in the show? No. But Milton has. And as for it being uncharacteristic, that's very debatable, as this last episode showed that he's becoming very weary of the Governor. Also, doesn't the group always have someone out on watch? So I doubt Merle would've sneaked out, as he has no reason to go out, when he and his brother are safe (for the meantime at least) at the prison.

And I thought my first 3 points, and the 2 points I made after BB's post made some sense, maybe I'm the only one.

It could've been Morgan who burned the walkers. He was burning the ones that got stuck in his traps. He has gas, surely a vehicle, I doubt it was Milton.... like Milton has the balls to pull off something like that.

The "Story Sync" said it was Milton if I remember correctly. It couldn't have been Merle because the person used their right hand to light the rag on fire that they tossed into the pit...Merle has no right hand...

It would be more of an evolution of his character. Before she left, Andrea told him that if he stayed, he had to stop looking the other way and you could see in his face that he took those words to heart. This would be him taking a step in that direction, if he was the one who did it.
