Does anyone know if Super 8 got an original score Oscar nom? I swear, every time I hear it, I get goosebumps.

      Just saw The Artist.

Not great, but not bad....sort of predictable.

I wouldn't watch it again but I wouldn't be shocked if it won.

It did not. Did get a sound editing or mixing nom. I forget which one.

          Re: Academy Award Nominations Announced

Hugo is running away with a bunch of awards so far, and not just technical achievements.

Not that I think Moneyball is deserving of anything, but I just hoped it would have sneaked in somewhere, like adapted screenplay or something.

On another note, what's up with the mic tonight? It's getting that digitized hiss every time someone talks (especially when Paltrow was presenting), and it's killing my ears. I just might be oversensitive to it, but sometimes it grabs my attention more than what they're actually saying.

                Re: Academy Award Nominations Announced

This was the worst Academy Awards I've ever seen.

The whole "up close and personal" features with the actors was bad. It was painful watching Downey Jr do his bit on stage. Billy Crystal hasn't been relevant in a decade. The whole broadcast had a very unhip feel to it. Oh yeah, 2011 was a really ****ty year for movies so that didn't help.

The only funny part of the evening was Chris Rock saying he was wearing FUBU.

BTW props to Cruise's makeup artist, he looked 15 years younger tonight. Jonah Hill is also gaining his weight back. Too bad Eddie Murphy quit after Ratner was removed as the producer.

Yeah, Downey's thing was embarrassing. He's got some kahunas to go up there with that material. I guess he thought he could turn nothing into something.

The Emma Stone/Ben Stiller routine looked promising but fizzled. By the way, how tall is she and how short is Ben Stiller?

Google says Emma Stone is 5'6". I'd assume she's wearing heels as well, so I don't know what her height is there.

Also Stiller isn't exactly a very tall man either.

Mmmm Emma. I will never quit you.

                        Stiller is 5'6.5

A lot of Male Hollywood actors are really short. Billy Crystal is 5'6 and Tom Cruise is 5'7

I actually enjoyed the Oscars quite a bit. Will Ferrell and Zach Galifinakis were hilarious with their presentation, and I enjoyed the actor portrayal videos. I thought Billy Crystal did a pretty good job hosting, too.

I'm happy that Undefeated won in the Oscars. It's a highschool football documentary and I guess I will have to check it out when it comes out on dvd. Saw a trailer of it on Apple Trailers and thought it had some potential.

Thought the broadcast was fine as well, only thing that didn't live up to expectations was the in memorian segment that felt rushed.
