Even though she didn't write this song, this will be my favorite Whitney Houston performance. Yes, better than the Superbowl performance even though that was good as well. RIP Whitney

That was my very first memory of watching a Super Bowl....so in that sense, I guess Whitney Houston does have a special place in my heart....so to speak.

Not like no one had an idea already, but the autopsy report came out and they say she did not drown. It was a combo of Booze & Pills that did her in.

Thank you for this. I hadn't realized how long it had been since I seen this video, probably not since sometime in the early 90's. And I agree, to me this was probably my favorite of her songs.

It would be hard for any artist today to duplicate what she was able to accomplish musically, but something also stands out when listening to this and watching this video. The entire theme and message that the song symbolizes, sadly, is something you just don't hear ANYWHERE, ANYMORE. It seems that every song on the radio or any video played these days are shoving this message of sex, material wealth, and other types of irresponsible behavior which may be entertaining to a certain demographic, but certainly isn't something our CHILDREN can and should listen to. To me, the entire message of this song is almost completely lost in today's age of music.

I just wanted to point out the contrast between a time when music like this was considered uplifting and meaningful, and now when it wouldn't be able to even sniff radio play. It's probably the reason some people in this thread don't understand the "icon" status that some have given her. They just probably weren't around during this era sadly.

Link, please, on the autopsy report?

I thought I just heard an official say the autopsy report won't be complete for 6-8 weeks. Did someone leak the information?

Whitney Houston's family was told by L.A. County Coroner officials ... the singer did not die from drowning, but rather from what appears to be a combination of Xanax and other prescription drugs mixed with alcohol ... this according to family sources.

                  ^^

                  How reliable is TMZ?

I see source here, source, there, it's not official at this stage, is it?

The official autopsy reports comes out in 6-8 weeks.

I wouldn't be surprised she went the same way as Heath Ledger, accidental suicide with prescription medication.

TMZ is as reliable as it gets when dealing with celebrity news.

As loathe as some here may be to say it, TMZ is incredibly accurate when it comes to celebrities and linking things up with law enforcement because of Harvey Levin's background in the legal profession.

Sad to see that it was booze and pills that did her in though.

You can bet there is a doctor in LA worried as hell right now.

If we have to go through another "doctor" trial, I'm going to be pissed.

I am an older guy (45) and remember very clearly when Whitney came on the scene in 1985. She was so good, so beautiful, so fresh that it just blew you away. As a guy that was mending a broken heart at the time, her debut album was a wonderful tonic. I know she had all sorts of demons later in life but I will always think of her as that fresh-faced sensation in 1985 that was belting out superb songs like "You Give Good Love" and "Saving All My Love For You." it really saddens me to think of what became of her and now of her passing. She had one of the most amazing voices out there and was a terrific live performer. She should have been a princess. Maybe it's the loss of innocence that makes this so sad for me. I just wish her life had gone in a different direction. RIP Whitney.
