That is an easy assumption but just like in all walks of life, who you know and what circles you are part of play a role in what opportunities you are given. The music industry has never been completely about who is the most talented.

Yeah but you are making it sound like it's akin to a aspiring actress who has to sleep with the director to get a role. Whitney was a huge star right from the 1st album and apparently started drugs after she was a household name and filthy rich. She would have never needed to "do lines" with the president to get ahead and earn a recording contract. Records companies would have lined up around the block to sign her back then if she didn't like who she was dealing with. An adult has to be accountable for themselves and realize that not every day is a 24 hour party and her refusal to do drugs would have not hurt her career one iota. She was already established. Being a health nut and not doing Coke with big wigs hasn't hurt Madonna.

As for Dion, she is filthy rich and one of the biggest stars in the world (rightly or wrongly) so if she was blacklisted they didn't do a very good job. She has a sweet gig in Vegas making a gazillion dollars doing a set amount of shows and without the travel. She's raising her kids and is getting older so probably doesn't have the energy to record new music and go on tour when she has it so good now. If she thought she was blacklisted it's because she's a diva who's full of herself and needs to make an excuse as to why she didn't become the biggest star of all time as well as the universe.

As soon as I heard she was buried in about 1/2 million worth of accessories, this is what I thought would happen:

What are you basing this off of?
