Re: Mad Men (madmen) Season 5

Draper's back and I'm glad. Hopefully it means a lot less Megan next season. Don and Peggy running into each other was very nice and I love how her managing style is basically Draper 2.0.

Pete's story this season I saw as an extension of Don. Its basically the same feelings Don has had in the past and some of which are the same feelings that have been building up to that little eye glance and smirk at the end of the show. I forget the exact wording, but Pete going on about trying to put a band-aid on a large open wound was basically describing Don. He keeps going and doing things he thinks will satisfy him, but they only satisfy him in the short term (hence the fondness for new beginnings). Its clear he is alone because he fails to grasp other people's emotions much less empathize with them, which is pretty much illustrated whenever he is giving money away to someone.

Roger on LSD at the end had me cracking up.

Roger, man, just providing comedy gold this whole season.

Pete taking loss after loss? I can't help but laugh. His talk with the Gilmore girl was very well done though.

Is old Don back? That last shot sure does hint at it.

It felt to me like everyone's individual and collective worlds are are about to start coming apart at a VERY accelerated pace...

Well, with the possible exception of Peggy and of course, Joan...who can outlast / outwit / outplay humanity...

Roger was by far my favorite character this season. Great ending shot. Literally.

Great finale, and I loved the ambiguous final scene (whether Don reverts back to his old ways or not).

Also, I hope we still see a lot of Elizabeth Moss next season.

I don't think there will be any doubt about that.

As much as this show is about Don, it's also partially about Peggy.

Just got caught up on last season and what a great season it was.

Sad to see Lane go but what he did was wrong. He let his pride get in the way. He could have come to Don like a man and he would have helped him out.

Roger killed it this season, especially with the LSD trips. I can't blame him for hitting Megans mom, that accent would have me wide open.

Pete needs to take some boxing classes. He just doesn't learn.

This blog has some pretty good (thorough and deep) insight into the show's themes and symbolism.

Does anybody know when this show returns for it's next season?

                        Thanks!

I guess its a little early to make a season 6 thread, but they're filming the premiere now. On location. In Hawaii.

So are they gonna fast forward a few years to the early 70s this season?

Possibly. There's two seasons left and they're a little over 2 years out from hitting the 70s.
