Watched episode 2 and enjoy it but man are they REALLY going all in on the sex scenes this season. I don't mind a bit of nudity etc with the best of them but it's almost getting the point of overkill and it almost seems like they are just trying to get as much sex in each episode as possible.

Yeah there was a scene in episode 2 that was just ridiculous.

Lol yeah I know but I just thought because this was based on these books it might not be quite as obvious. It's almost like the HBO execs have gone "ok now I like the script you guys have done for this episode but I'm going to have to go ahead and insert a gratuitous sex scene here, here aaaaaaannnnnd here."

I haven't seen ep 2, but based off the book, how much could there be in this episode?

              Spoiler

That said, I do agree on the whole that if HBO can sneak in some extra T&A in a series they don't hesitate. Guess I will see for myself in 4 minutes.

The scene that I found just absurd was the brothel scene. That three way peep-hole incident was totally unnecessary. I have nothing against sex in the show, but scenes like that just feel like they want to force some sex into an episode.

Like I said, HBO has a huge pension for putting in gratuitous sex scenes in all their series. I don't mind them, I just don't understand their reasoning for doing so. Whether it be Boardwalk Empire, GoT, True Blood, etc they all have their share of them.

I haven't watched every HBO series so I'm not sure if Deadwood, Six Feet Under, etc all do the same but of the ones I have watched or am currently watching, they all do.

                      Back onto GoT...

Like I previously stated, I never read the books but I have been watching this series since the first episode of season one. I didn't care much for tonight's episode, in fact I'll go ahead and say I didn't like it at all. The previews for next weeks looked pretty good though. A lot of power play conversations taking place and although it's necessary, I find it boring.

I read the books and found tonight's episode kind of "meh." Really, the second book got off to a slow start, if I remember correctly. It didn't really pick up until the last third or so. That was almost a year and three books ago. Kind of hard to keep it all straight!

Huge fan of the books, but I'm very blah on this season so far. I hate the Stannis actor, am getting tired of the changes (Joffrey ordering the hit? Asha to Yara? Bronn as head of the City Watch? No Damphair? Killing a Blood Rider and Dany's silver?). The scene in the brothel was the worst ever, and while I know WHY they have the character Roz, she's a terrible actress. The peephole? The "leftovers" on the one whore's lip?

So far the only thing that has been untouched is the Arya story, which I'm grateful for. I'll keep watching, as it's extremely entertaining and I love everything Song of Ice and Fire, can't get enough, honestly, but these first two episodes have not been that good, IMO, and I fear for the show going forward as the cast grows and plots pop up that can't exactly be explained in brief sequences (hell, it's happening already).

Then again, I'll re-watch tomorrow, and maybe my tune will change entirely.

That was the only part of the episode that I actually went backwards and watched again because when I saw it the first time I thought, "Is that what I think it is?" That was a tad over-the-top.

-I never really liked Stannis in the books, so I feel it seems fitting so far. I do love Davos though, both in book and show.
-Joffrey ordering the hit was done to emphasize that Cersei has no control over her sadistic son. Part of the aging up of the children in the series really, can't have him do nothing, just like Robb in the show is actually a leader instead of just doing what his mother tells him to.
-Asha to Yara is pretty pointless I agree. The idea was to not be confused with Osha, but I still think it's unnecessary.
-Bronn as head of the city watch actually makes a lot of sense I think. Tyrion installs a guy that you already know is his, and it reduces the need for a throwaway character (the guy he names as commander in the books). Stuff like Bronn as Commander of the city watch are examples of the show needing to cut characters when it can because the cast of characters is simply too large, and continues to expand as the series goes on.
-Roz (or is it Ros?) is terrible. The only scene in the episode that I didn't like. I thought she did a nice job of being a device to expand Theon in season 1, but this year she has nothing to do, but they keep spending time on her.
-With how large and complex this series is, they are going to have to take liberties and make some changes for the sake of the TV series. While some of them haven't been great changes, they have also done some really nice things with some of the characters in the first season and two episodes.

I enjoyed this episode, but liked the first one significantly more. No Robb or Bran probably has to do with that quite a bit.

The preview for next week looks great. I love that
