I'm good with my 1080ti until it just doesn't work anymore lol. Don't think I could get away with another vid card for at least 5 years. Wife would be livid lol.

1080 been out for years. I think I will hold out until 1180ti comes out. Currently I can run everything maxed out with my 1080. But if 1180 have some killer specs, then I might just get the 1180. Who knows, I am not in need for anything. However, nothing like that new tech smell. My PC is like 3 years old, maybe 4 years old. My overclocked I7 5820K still kicking ***, my SSDs still going strong, my 48GB of RAM still going strong.
At first I was thinking about an optane build, until I saw optane isn't worth the price unless you using it in a server environment. So nixed that idea. Just enjoying PC master race life right now. I remember years ago when I had an AMD Athlon 4 core with integrated graphics. Couldn't play crap on that PC above low settings. I remember I bought Sim City and I had to have everything on low. Saved my money up and built my beast that I have now. Now I can play Sim City maxed out and it look like a totally different game that I put 100s of hours in years ago.
Now my only problem is time. I don't have the time to play all the PC games I own. I have to make an effort to rotate games in and out just to make sure I play games now.

Mine is the same but with that being said she would not know the difference if I could get it in and install it while she is at work.
Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread
I went 5 years between my 660ti and 1060 6gb. Then 18 months between the 1060 and (1070ti first) 1080. Which was offset by making the cost of my 1060 back before upgrading.
The only reason I even upgraded the 1060 so soon was because I'd just finished upgrading the rest of my rig AND had some extra cash flow for the first time in a while.
I plan on sticking with the 1080 for a while, until it can't run the games I want and/or can afford to upgrade, but the 11 series is definitely not in my future.
All that said, if in my 30-return window a better card drops to the price I paid for my current card, believe it I will be swapping again. But that'd be the only reason and really the only possibility left for that to happen would be a 1080ti.

I’m on a 1080ti but I have to admit it will be tempting if the cards really look like they are a significant boost. Will for sure wair for the 1180ti though.

I feel like I can't stop tinkering lol. First the PSU. Then new case fans. Which are crazy silent btw. It's like the PC isn't even on which is crazy.
Anyways as I said before when I was installing my PSU I noticed that one of the fans on my EVGA 1080ti was out. I wasn't concerned at the time because I was still getting good temps. However with the new silent case fans I got (which don't push as much air obviously) combined with some stupid hot weather we've been having in San Diego the last few weeks (talking mid 90's and humid) temps under load are getting to a level I'm not comfortable with. I'm thinking of getting the https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...=operasport-20 . Any experience with this item:

I was joking before but I won't bother upgrading until 4K/HDR monitors are not only mainstream but within reasonable ($500-$700) range and that'll probably be, my guess anyways, about 2 to 3 years from now considering they are $2000 right now and HDR still doesn't work right in Windows 10.
Go read the Madden PC thread about HDR if you want to see that in play, LOL..
