Intel is better at mutlitasking but AMD is generally better for gaming. Now that is a broad "outlook" but for the most part Intel has lead the way but they are a good bit more in cost, while AMD is not the best at multitasking but post solid gaming frame rates. Also AMD having more "unlocked" cpus allow for more flexibility to over clockers.

At the end of the day it comes down to what your willing to spend. Intel is faster, but for a cheaper alternative with still comparable performance AMD is there.

The stock fan will be fine unless you OC, then I'd suggest getting an aftermarket cooler. Actually, I think I read or watched a video not too long ago that said the stock fan on the 6300 was pretty decent for OCing and to get an aftermarket if you went with the 8350 or something. I'm gonna have to look that up to be sure.

      6200 ($135) vs 8350 ($199)

Single core they are darn near identical, multi-core 8350 pulls away slightly which is to be expected. Overclocking they are about equal.
Yeah I'd been thinking about it for a few months and pulled the trigger on the 8350 on Sunday. It'll be here today. The 6200 is cheaper and similar in performance, but you'll be paying more on energy costs using it according that tech showdown, about $25 more a year, so you'll quickly spend more on it than the 8350 for less performance. I know that's not much but in just a little over two years you will have spent as much on it as you would have for the 8350, but will have had less performance, however slightly less.

Oh and the 8350 is $189 on Amazon, $10 cheaper than listed.

That's was a great point but you got them switch around. The 6200 has about a 20 to 25 dollar a year cheaper operating cost so for the slight performance increase in the 8350 you will be paying more each year after when compared to the 6200. This is why the 6200 is even more appealing in my opinion, very similar performance but will save you 50 to 100 bucks in 2 to 4 years compared to the 8350. Push it to 5 years and it will have paid for itself vs the 8350.

Well I think I found the processor I'll be buying because of this discussion. Now to find a motherboard.

Still not understanding what's so bad about the FX 6300. All the numbers I see says it's a lot better than the A10 or FX 6200, so is it something about build quality or what? If it's cheaper and more efficient why pass it up?

If its brand, and you have the money, there is no better than Noctua.

As I've stated before... I use a noctua heatsink and have 6 more of those fans in my case (for a total of 8 including the 2 on the heatsink). Posted my temps earlier using them.
Noctua makes great fan, but I went with these cougar fans and have been pretty impressed, they are quiet, move a lot of air, and are dirt cheap. Buy three of these, one in front, rear, and side and let your motherboard control them.

You might want to measure that side vent where that plastic duct is, make sure it will take a 120mm fan.

The only main difference is the 6300 uses less power but does not have hyperthreading, is a lower clock speed, and utilizes the piledriver. The 6200 uses more power, has hyperthreading, only has 64 bit instruction set, and uses the bulldozer module.

They are close runners to each other. Now from everything I have read the 6300 is just a more refined version of the 6200. They will run close but the 6300 once overclocked will stomp the 6200. So if you can find it for a price range in the 130s then scoop it up!

The reason I would like to know is because you can get the FX 6300 at Microcenter for $120, and if you bundle it with a motherboard you get $40 off.

So glad my motherboard is getting replaced but it sucks that where it's being sent to is in CA. Lol. With UPS ground it's expected to get there Monday. :P

Does anyone know if they with send my new motherboard from there or from another center closer to me? Im just curious.

I had to send my graphics card to Cali the other week and the replacement was sent back from there. If I had to guess I'd say it'll be the same for you.
