Yeah I was thinking water cooling but I heard they are a tremendous pain to install.

Those all in ones are easy (its self contained) but air cooling works just as well as they do.

According to this, I need to upgrade the CPU first of all. What would you tackle first?
I'm actually in the exactly same position as you right now except I have a 4100 instead of the 6100 with a Gigabyte mobo, I have the 970A-UD3. I've been eyeing video cards pretty closely the last couple weeks since games like Tomb Raider, Bioshock and even DMC have come out and are far superior on the PC to consoles. Unfortunately the 7770 was a decent card but nothing amazing when I bought it about 8 months ago so now it's almost a low end card but still handles 1080p really well up to at least medium settings or high on older games which is all I need with my monitor. I've been thinking about an upgrade though to be able to play on much higher settings with some of the new games.

The 7870 seems like a great card and is the one I've been most closely looking at especially since you get Bioshock and Tomb Raider for free. I've also been looking at the 7850 since it seems to have settled in around $190 or below. I've been hoping to stay closer to 200 bucks which is why the 660ti is not really a consideration for me right now. I'd go with the 7850 but I feel like I'll be in this exact same spot 6 months from now and wishing I just got the 7870 to "future proof" myself for at least an extra few months before I start thinking about it again. If I wasn't such an impatient idiot I would have waited an extra week or two to get the graphics card and gotten the 7850 the first time but oh well, using only an iPad for over a month was driving me insane after my laptop died.

I'm also hoping to maybe swap the 4100 for a 6300 and finally get an SSD in there as well in the next 2-3 months. I'm going to Wrestlemania this weekend so I'm not sure how my budget will look but I've been saving for a bit so if it's not to crazy a weekend I should be getting a new video card before the end of the month. I have a Gigabyte 7770 and I haven't had a single problem but I may go with the XFX for the 7870 since I thought I saw a couple of you guys said you had good experiences with them. Plus right now it's 20 bucks cheaper than the Gigabyte on newegg.

I've thought about getting another 7770 and trying to crossfire but I've heard if you get a 30% jump in performance that's a lot so it seems like getting one really nice card would be better.

Download CPU-Z, it'll tell you what board you have. Chances are it'll take whatever AMD processor you want to throw at it.

Yeah if takes the 6100 it'll take any current FX upgrade you wanna get for it. All the FX processors are Socket AM3+.

Ok according to newegg they recommend 2 120 fans for my case. What should I replace the back one with?

                  Talking brand or size?

If its brand, and you have the money, there is no better than Noctua.

                  http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835608004

As I've stated before... I use a noctua heatsink and have 6 more of those fans in my case (for a total of 8 including the 2 on the heatsink). Posted my temps earlier using them.

Damn, I've never had that quick a delivery using Shoprunner. Not even Amazon Prime, usually have to order it by 7pm EST to get it the next day.

Speaking of, looking forward to my 8350 this evening.

Trob..probably don't need a new fan or anything do I? I think I might want the 7970 or the same one you have.

I have a feature on the top where there is a switch and I can have the fan inside run low med or high..which I havent really had the need to fool with.

I'm really eying the FX-8350 4.0ghz 8 core. Now I think the FX-6200 is the best bang for the buck though. VERY similar performance but about 65 bucks cheaper.

                            6200 ($135) vs 8350 ($199)

Single core they are darn near identical, multi-core 8350 pulls away slightly which is to be expected. Overclocking they are about equal.

Are those AMD CPUs equalivent or less to an i5-3570k? I notice the price is way cheaper but they are 6 and 8 cores. Just seems awful cheap if they really outdo the i5-2500k/3570ks. I have no idea about AMD CPUs I just use AMD video cards.

I'd say the FX-8350 matches up with the i5-3570k, but the AMD probably give you more if you're using processes that benefit from more cores.
