I have a 560 GTX 2GB Superclocked and pretty much everything runs at Very High to Ultra, but kind of itching to get the 660 TI 2 or 3GB which would tie me over for 2-3 years.

Any word on what the best SSD to go with? I'm just looking at about 120GB for OS and apps. I asked about the OCZ Vertex 3 several posts above and didn't get a response.

adata has very good read/write speeds on their ssds and gets favorable reviews.

I've used a couple different PCs with several different SSDs in them and you really can't tell a difference between them. The speed jump that matters is mechanical HDD to SSD, real world differences between SSDs are fairly minor, just go with whatever is the best deal on a current model SSD you can find.

That being said, Intel arguably makes the best SSD, they aren't faster but they are rock solid reliable, but they are also pricey. Samsung is second, and probably the brand you should watch for since they often go on sale just as cheap as everybody else.

I bought a Kingston HyperX because I was too impatient to wait for a Samsung, which of course went on sale 2 weeks later. The Kingston has been working great and was cheaper anyway, so I can't complain. If it dies, it dies, I just keep it backed up on my storage drive so if it does go I can be back up quick.

I was thinking about building my own by buying a part or 2 a week but man CPU parts are like a whole different language to me. I understand some of it but knowing what pieces I buy that are compatible with each other is the hard part.

Also know what graphic cards are better than other ones is a pain, lol.

Pretty simple if you don't over think it:

              Tower
              Motherboard
CPU Chip - matches motherboard Socket
              6 gigs of RAM
              Graphics Card
              Power Supply
              Hard Drive or SSD drive
              ==============================================

Far as graphics card at least a 660 TI or 7770

Power Supply at least 700 watts

              That is it......

Should I target i7 and is liquid cooling a must. From what I heard it is very helpful.

Liquid cooling is only for over clockers...... If you not over clocking, don't waste your money on liquid cooling. Honestly I don't see the point of over clocking for a few more FPS that your eyes can't see no damn way.

i7, i5, AMD 8350, etc is just a matter of personal preference and how hardcore of a PC gamer you are. Tested them all, not much of a difference that you can SEE WITH YOUR EYES. Too many people get hung up on bench scores and all that other BS. Anything over 60FPS is good.

So it really comes down to your pocket and how much you willing to spend when it comes to the CPU. But liquid cooling ? That is over kill and a waste of money.

Thanks guys for your thoughts, going to look at the Samsung and OCZ Vertex 3 most likely. Trying to keep this SSD purchase under $100 and right now both are being offered under that. I've read some good things on the Samsung.

My darn Win 7 is 32 bit and I do not want to buy a 64 bit Win 7 and just wait till Win 8 kinks are worked out before upgrading or as some say, downgrading. LOL!

Debating on whether or not to finally grab the first piece of my first build. That 600W Corsair power supply for $28 after rebate seems like a pretty good deal.

May be a stupid question but when your buying parts for your CPU is there a piece that has a operating system on it already or do I have to buy Windows 7? (I hate 8)

You have to buy it separately and install it yourself. Or you could always try out one of the free alternatives as well.

What do u guys do with your old pc? I'm thinking of building a new one but Idk what to do with my current build. I'm leaning towards converting it to a htpc but I need a smaller case for that. Any suggestions would be great
