There has to be a balance though. Don't just save money to save money. Or don't not spend just to not spend. Buy a TV. Why? Because once you go to HD, you won't regret it. You do have to treat yourself to something sometimes. At the end of the day, I've learned to save enough money so that I don't have to live pay check to pay check, but also just don't save money so you have money saved up.
This is going to sound so hippy and perhaps ironic coming from someone typing on a year old laptop computer while my new copy of NBA 2K13 is paused, but I think we can live off way simpler means than American society these days would ever suggest. Did we survive without HD TV's in 1998 even? Yep. So why would it be so imperative I own one now? There's a heck of a push out there to not just buy what we're passionate about owning, but also what we feel we must own in order to feel normal and present. I'd presume being a multi-millionaire would only magnify those feelings.Comment

List of the upcoming Vol II. I personally can't wait for "You Don't Know Bo". I grew up with that guy. A freak of an athlete. The "Bo Knows" campaign was exciting and fun. Then in a flash, the hip dislocated and a career over.Comment

If you have comcast/xfinity, there's one on OnDemand called 'Benji' about former Chicago prep star Ben Wilson. Should check it out.Lions, Tigers, Pistons, Michigan

Tonight's doc about trying to get the original basketball rules to KU wasn't particularly well-made. I also didn't think the subject was compelling at all. Some of the interviews this guy did with the boosters were awkward.Comment

Sounds like the Benji one is actually interesting----and worth a damn.
Didn't even bother watching the last two.Comment

Didn't bother to watch 9.79, just seemed like a boring story imo. Not sure about this one either, seems like a cool idea for a 5 minute Sportscenter thing not like an hour.Saints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment

9.79 was definitely worth the watch. I enjoyed that one a lot. I tried watching this weeks episode for a couple of minutes but it seemed kind of dry. I didn't bother wasting my time.Comment

9.79 was very good. Liked how they exposed Carl Lewis for being a fraud.
Skipped this weeks. Benji looks like it will be worth watching.Comment

Re: ESPN 30 for 30 Discussion Thread
The main problem with "There's No Place Like Home" was that it was put together on the fly with no idea what was going on. Then there's the fact that the subject matter was so focused. There was nothing there that someone who isn't a huge college basketball or specifically, a KU fan, would really care about. It would have been more interesting if he maybe a bunch of fans pitched in to get the rules. but he just goes to the rich boosters - who in some cases (not saying with KU basketball) are what's wrong with college athletics.
With what we've come to expect from these docs, that one fell woefully short. I hope that's not a sign that they expanded this idea too far too fast.Last edited by ImTellinTim; 10-18-2012, 02:22 PM.Comment
