I believe it's pretty obvious Deb accidentally overdosed. The last couple of episodes they have been showing her take the pills. She's like some girls that get a broken heart and eat chocolate except she takes pills.

Re: Dexter (Season 7)
The way I'm overlooking it, or accepting it, is her saying she would do anything. I'm going to just assume that death was one of those options. That's the only way it makes sense to me.
If she comes out and says she had no intentions on killing herself and she planned to survive the crash the whole time, then I'm right there on that jet ski with you."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: Dexter (Season 7)
So where did the laced water come from? I could accept the fact that she accidently took too much Xanax, and then decided to take advantage of the car crash by setting up the spiked water bottle, but wasn't she still in the hospital when Dexter got the water sample for testing?Comment

Dexter comes around, finds the water bottle inside the crashed car and gets it tested."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. Re: Dexter (Season 7)
I think the assumption is that Debrah laced her own water, the same water she was drinking when she told Hannah she would do anything to put her in prison and keep Dexter away from her. And she drank that water, got into a car crash, and was injured.
Dexter comes around, finds the water bottle inside the crashed car and gets it tested.
My post was responding to War Eagle's theory that Deb accidently overdosed. If she accidently overdosed why would there be Xanax laced water of her own creation in the car?Comment

Re: Dexter (Season 7)
I understand that, although it's still a little far fetched, even coming from the mind of a Dexter writer.

Re: Dexter (Season 7)
Oh, I understand you here. Not going to argue against that. Would be hypocritical of me to do so.
The way I'm overlooking it, or accepting it, is her saying she would do anything. I'm going to just assume that death was one of those options. That's the only way it makes sense to me.
If she comes out and says she had no intentions on killing herself and she planned to survive the crash the whole time, then I'm right there on that jet ski with you.
Anyway, problem I have is that it's a bit extreme given her resources as the head of Miami Metro homicide. In the realm of "things Deb could do to get Hannah", getting into a high risk, high speed, rollover car accident while on drugs seems pretty damn far down the list. It's like someone thinking they need to make it look like they just got mugged so they shoot themselves in the face.
One theory, that I found especially amusing, was that she faked the accident by beating the car with a sledgehammer. So she spends a couple of hours beating the car with a sledgehammer, rents a tow truck, returns the tow truck, takes a cab back out to the car, breaks her own wrist + other injuries, hoists herself into the car seat, belts herself in, doses herself, waits in the car until found....... profit?
A good middle ground theory was that it was Hannah's friend that she interviewed, problem with that is the dosing seemed like a spur of the moment thing and she would have had to go out to her house and you don't go to someone's house to do something of that nature without a plan.
IMO Hannah panicked, she rooted around in Deb's medicine cabinet and grabbed the only thing she could find, goes back in at the first opportunity and doses the water. Since it was a fevered desperation attempt, she didn't have time to research the drug or go find something else, she just hoped it would do the trick or it would have been seen as a suicide attempt and Deb would have other things to worry about than Hannah.Comment

Re: Dexter (Season 7)
Somehow I didn't catch that LaGuerta set it up until it happened, I guess I was more focused on the Hannah/Deb storyline. Definitely think Deb laced her own water and that Hannah had nothing to do with it. I do agree that it seems very short-sighted on the part of Dex and Deb to turn in someone who knows everything about who he is. They must be counting on the fact that she loves Dexter enough not to do it.
Barely hit the stop button in time to not see the previews, looking forward to seeing where they go with this on Sunday.
Even though Dexter got away, the getup with the chainsaw and all the plastic is solid confirmation for LaGuertaComment

Re: Dexter (Season 7)
Great episode, really was at the edge of my seat though:
SpoilerDon't know how that was a cliffhanger? Cause of Hannah?
I really liked the flashbacks/new flashbacks with Doakes, fit in very nice and it was awesome seeing him again. Hope he returns for more in Season 8.
