Man this one hurts. Really bad. He always reminded me of my father and I couldn't look at him without thinking of my dad and how much I miss him.
I know I've seen all the Andy Griffith shows at least 50 times a piece if not more.
    R.I.P Mr Griffith

It may be just a Southern cultural thing, but this hurts as bad as my dad dying. It was just one of those things my dad and I did. My father never learned how to be a dad, so most of my growing up was centered around Andy Griffith, Bobby Cox and Skip Caray. As far as I know, I have seen every black and white episode of The Andy Griffith Show and while it sounds crazy nowadays to look up to a television star with such respect, this was the Andy Griffith Show. It taught a lot of valuable lessons while portraying small town southern life as a positive thing just like I remember it to be growing up.

Wow! RIP Andy. I'll probably be whistling the theme song all day.

Sad day indeed. Grew up watching both shows (Matlock as well). He'll definitely be missed. RIP

Some of my fondest memories as a child involve the Andy Griffith Show and just watching them with my grandfather. Great show. I still watch it to this day.

The Andy Griffith Show has stood the test of time and is an iconic part of Americana, especially in the south.

              RIP, Andy Griffith.

I dont usually grieve for celebrity deaths but you had to know that this guy was genuine and wanted to accomplish something via his show. All towns and cities for that matter should strive for the Mayberry principles. It's not a Southern thing. It's definitely much more than that. It's a depiction of how people should treat each other. It should make you reflect. I know I will.

What else is sad is that a lot of kids today don't know Andy Griffith. My roommate, who is 20 years old, had no idea who he was. He barely recognized the song. (This is also the kid who never heard of Barry Sanders, but claims football as his favorite sport.)

Time to find a bunch of reruns.

I was a huge fan of Matlock.....RIP Mr. Griffith.

Crazy thing is, I was saying to my GF the other day that i'm surprised he's still alive. I guess I jinxed him!

I loved the guy. I love the Andy Griffith Show. I've watched every Black and White episode many times over.

He took down the southern drawl after the first season, and became the greatest straight man ever to Don Knott's Barney Fife. They fed off each other and IMO were the best TV comedy duo of all time.

Andy was a positive influence on millions. His value to America cannot be measured.

I think most people around here know of him. They still show Andy Griffith reruns all the time on the local CBS affiliate.

It was a great show, although it went downhill some once Barney left, IMO.

Yep, I'm 22 and I have seen every episode of The Andy Griffith show and I watch Matlock with my dad, occasionally....

I also rarely feel so down about the passing of a celebrity, but I think its because he was Always so genuine and even in his Hollywood role, he was still being himself.

                              VERY SAD.
