    Re: RIP Andy Griffith

My least favorite episodes were ones that featured Ernest T Bass and/or The Darling family.

Those were some of my favorite. Did you not like Denver Pyle or the BLuegrass music?

I did like the music, brief as it was. I liked Denver Pyle as a very good character actor (saw him in many shows), but didn't care for the hillbilly Darling family. Of course the only Darlings with any personality were Mr Darling (Pyle) and his daughter. The only sound from the boys was the music. For me, pretty boring stuff-the daughter likes Andy, Mr Darling likes Aunt Bee, Earnest T likes the daughter (the merging of my two least favorite aspects of the show), and marriage was in the air in about every Darling appearance.

This is in my Top Three shows of all time, so I didn't hate my least favorites. And the music....................

Note the other Denver in the video.

I always remember Braves games going to rain delay and TBS airing The Andy Griffith Show to pass the time.

            RIP.

Never seen the show though I've recently wanted to.

I know he is beloved by many and I'm sure it's because he was a good actor, creator and person.

Perhaps the world could use more Andy Griffiths.

Time to find a bunch of reruns.
PlayOn + the Andy Griffith plug-in is all you need.

You might be in the minority on that. People used to think Ernest T. was a regular cast member, but was only in a handful of episodes. And if anything those Darlings could jam!

The Darlin boys were an actual bluegrass group named The Dillards.

This was very sad to hear. My dad was a huge Andy Griffith Show fan and we would watch it together all the time. I was a huge fan. Mr. Griffith will be missed greatly. RIP.

Funny movie from way back called "No Time for Sergeants" that featured Andy Griffith. Might have been the first thing he ever appeared in.

He will be missed, but fortunately for us his memory, humor, and values will live on through "The Andy Griffith Show".

My understanding is that he performed in that same named play on Broadway. Then, his character in the movie, was the basis for Gomer Pyle's character which, as we all know, became Jim Nabors primary starring role. I know I've seen that movie but forgot that Don Knotts (probably my #2 all-time best supporting TV comedy actor next to Art Carney) was in it. Need to go back and watch this again.

So the only major characters that are still alive is Jim Nabors and Ron Howard. Wow.
