Re: How I Met Your Mother: Season 8

Since people talking about ideas they could see happening....

What are some ideas you DON'T want to see happen to end the show?

One I can think of, would be if this whole thing was like a dream or fantasy. Like the day after Ted met his "wife", he started obsessing over meeting her and then dreamt about life in the future and him telling his kids all about how he met her(so future Ted is crazy basically, as he imagines getting married to the person he just met, and telling the story of how he met her, to their kids)

That would be a really terrible way to go. Plus, it's been done in the Roseanne finale, and even in an episode on this show with Robin's kids.

And for a season of Dallas. Not quite the same scenario, but where the whole season was a dream.

Yeah, a dream scenario would be a crap way to go out.

Honestly, I don't really want any plot twists when this show is finished. I don't want anyone to be dead, or any dream scenarios.

******* let Ted have his happily ever after lmao

Same for the Newhart show when they did that type of ending.

I'm gonna be annoyed if it's something cheap like that. I've invested so many years into this show that the payout better be decent!

Re: How I Met Your Mother: Season 8

Decent episode last night, but what I'm loving is what they're building to.

Ted has gone through a ton of **** (not only over the course of the series, but this season as well). It's hard to believe that he's gone through as much as he has and still been the nice guy he is and never just snapped. Slowly but surely though, I think we're starting to see him crack.

Put yourself in Ted's shoes. There's this girl you've loved for 8 years. You've wanted to get married (and more specifically to her) for that same length. Then here comes one of your best friends, one who had the complete opposite feelings when it came to marriage, and he's about to marry the girl you love in half that time. Not only that, but you see them together pretty much every day AND that girl you love has even told you she doesn't feel the same way about you any more. Eventually you're going to just lose your ****, right? No one can hold that much pain and heartbreak inside, not even Ted.

That second to last scene between Ted and Barney last night was key. We know Ted still isn't fully over Robin, and in the first episode of this season it's obvious that some things went down at Barney and Robin's wedding because Ted's right hand is wrapped and he's clearly unhappy.

I think at Robin and Barney's wedding, Ted finally reaches his boiling point and objects at the last second to them getting married. Ted's going to tell Robin it should be him she's marrying, not Barney, leading to a fight between them (this is why Ted's hand is wrapped after the wedding). Robin still also has to find out that Ted and Victoria broke up because of her, so I'm guessing that comes to the surface in that moment as well.

What they're doing with everything Ted's gone through is breaking him down completely just before they fully build him back up by (finally) introducing him to the mother. It's going to make that moment even better than it was already going to be.

BTW next episode is 2 weeks from now.

Wow, I HATE the schedule they're running on now. I would much rather they took an extended break and then began airing them week after week.

lol ya. It's same thing I was talking about for BBT. 1 episode in 5 week period is stupid.

Makes me wonder how people without tv guides on internet or on their tv, managed to keep up with shows as often on schedules like this. I remember not even getting my tv guide(delivered with the newspapers) until Sunday, so I might not have even known a show was even on until a few hours before it actually aired. Or if the schedule changed and a new episode wasn't actually airing, the tv guide obviously would still say new episode, so you end up waiting for a show that never even aired.

Pretty sure just about every major cable provider has a guide at this point.

Weirdly, I had to manually tell my dvr to record. Even though I have a series recording set up, it wasn't going to record

I know quite a few people that watch tv OTA or get basic cable where there is no box or guide. Hell, my upstairs TV just has a receiver; no guide.

I meant like 10+ years before stuff like this was around, cause it wasn't very common to have tv guides on internet, and only ones people had were the tv guide channel or an actual tv guide book.

Good episode. That "you're not getting married in 3 weeks, I am" part was pretty cold.

It's not that big of a deal considering there's only like 3 episodes left in the season. They're taking one week off this next week then I'm guessing the final 3 air week to week.
