For those that are up to date on The Office:

    Spoiler

It's setting up for a nice heartfelt moment regardless of which path they choose, but judging by the fact they've already said Marshall becomes a judge, I'm inclined to believe they will stay. Of course there lies the possibility that he stays and she's goes to Italy for a year, but who knows.

I really hope the series doesn't end on that train platform. I'm okay with stretching out the wedding way longer than they need to if they do it well and build substance in every episode, but I hope they at least build some kind of traction beyond that before the conclusion.

Really at this point it's just looking like they got too greedy and bit off more than they should have chewed. A show that should have probably only been 6-7 seasons is now probably going to be stretched beyond it's limit, if it hasn't already (and a lot of people seem to think that).

I hope things turn out for the best, and of course I'm still going to be tuning in to the very end -- I mean after all this time, why bother bailing now? I just really don't like this idea of making Barney and Robin's wedding the backdrop for the ENTIRE final season. It seems really unnecessary. Hopefully they can make it work.

The final season should have Barney and Robin's wedding play out over the first 3 episodes or so, Ted meets the mother, we see their first date, why and how she's "the one", maybe an episode or two from the mother's perspective, her pregnancy (because remember, the daughter is already born in May 2014 in time for "Trilogy Time"), and Marshall becoming a judge, Lilly's art career taking off, Robin becoming a big time news anchor, and whatever it is they want to do with Barney.

For them to make an entire 20-something episode season last over the course of 3 days is just really ****ing ridiculous.
I forgot about all that stuff, aside from Marshall becoming a judge (which I had forgotten until last night). Hmm. Although, they could view the fact that they've revealed all that information already as reason not to dedicate much/any show time to the future this final season, since we already know the outcomes for some of the characters.

And I'm still hoping to see what someone on here proposed, a "How I Met Your Father" episode where the mother tells her side of the story in a matter of minutes lol

Really? You think that the last 3 seasons are on par with the first 4? You laughed just as much?

I'm sincerely happy for you then. I think the quality has fallen off severely. It was a top 5 comedy for me those first 4 yrs to a decent one now. I stay around because I like NPH, wanted to see the mother and the show isnt bad enough to make me drop it from my DVR.

            Yup, I did.

I watch shows (especially comedies) for enjoyment, as an escape from every day life, not to analyze every single detail. If I did the latter, I wouldn't be able to enjoy anything at all.

Another genius idea I read similar to that is at the end of the show, the mother walks in on future Ted telling the story and asks what they're talking about. The kids say, "Dad's telling us how you two met", and the mother goes, "We met on a train in Farhampton" and leaves.

I do too but you have to analyze SOME details right? What's the point in having an ongoing plot if you arent going to stick with it or if you are going to artificially drag it out? I'm just a little surprised because I haven't met anyone who thinks that these recent seasons are on par with the first ones. I'm sure the creators are glad to see someone will enjoy the series no matter what they do.

That would be hilarious, I'd love that.

Well even still, the pregnancy would have to take place relatively soon for the daughter to be around at that time.

Ted's marriage is another thing that could have been included next season as well, which just goes to show that there's still so much more that can and should happen as opposed to going with this stupid 3 day season timeline.

The show wouldn't keep getting renewed if the majority of people hated what was going on... As with most things, the minority is usually the loudest.

LOL. That isnt a response to my statement. You use the word "hate." I dont hate the show. Never said anyone hates the show. I said its quality has dropped and that you are the only person I've ever met that believes this season is on par with seasons 1 or 2. Its still a decent show.

Also, using your logic, the third funniest show on television right now is "Two and a Half Men." I mean it has to be, right? Its the third highest rated comedy on television and it keeps getting renewed. Thats simply nonsense.

All the people I've discussed the show with personally feel it has declined in quality during the later seasons, but not enough to sap all enjoyment and stop watching (nor enough to qualify as hating what the show's been doing). Plus there was the allure of finally meeting the mother to keep people watching and ratings high.

I'll be eagerly tuning in to the final season, optimistic that they'll end things well.

Not necessarily. Remember the whole season will take place during the 3 days surrounding the wedding. So the season will be stuck in 2013 even when we are in 2014.

I'm currently re-watching from the beginning and I'm up to the end of Season 4 right now. Everything up to that point has been quality. The last two seasons however have definitely had a severe drop in quality IMO. The show has had it's moments and there's still been good episodes of course, but just as a whole things don't seem to be as good.

I'm not sure if I'm right here but I feel like things started going south during the season with Zooey, which would be Season 6 I think. That one seemed to be where it felt like they were just starting to drag things out for the purpose of extending the show as long as they could, which never goes well for any show that I've seen.
