Re: How I Met Your Mother: Season 8
I really didn't get how this was gonna be first half of finale, minus the laser tag stuff, nothing else really good happened in the episode(they already established Robin-Barney did get married, so the fact they're trying to hint that Robin doesn't want to get married now isn't gonna lead to a surprise turnaround)
I'm guessing they had stuff planned, and once season 9 was happening, they scrapped some things they were gonna have happen and saved it for next season.
Season 8 overall probably the worst season of HIMYM though. I still don't get how they can have the entire wedding stuff in a 30 min episode. I'm guessing we're not even gonna get anywhere close to Ted meeting the mother till season 9(they'll prob end season 8 like right before Ted steps outside, and season 9 story begins from that moment onwards)Comment

Re: How I Met Your Mother: Season 8
Not to mention that we already know Ted/Robin doesnt work so that final scene is meaningless.
EDIT: Actually Sepinwall says it better than I can

Looking at the episode for next week, I thought the season finale was going to be the actual wedding, but this doesn't sound like it at all:
As the gang prepares to head out to Robin and Barney's wedding, Ted invites Lily to see the house he's finally finished fixing up. Meanwhile, Robin and Barney's night of relaxation is ruined by an obnoxious couple, and Marshall takes the baby on a last-minute trip to Minnesota to see his familyOriginally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. EDIT: For the most part, I don't disagree with that review but the problem with this part....
The only way to make me even less enthused for the finale was to bring Ted and Robin's feelings for each other back into play again, after the show has repeatedly tried to put that issue to bed, including in one of this season's few genuinely great scenes, when Ted talks Robin into going up to see Barney in "The Final Page." Do people in real life still hold onto feelings they insist they've let go of? Sure. But dramatically speaking, it's the show running in circles, and retroactively sucking the joy out of a recent highlight.
As annoying and tiresome as it might be that the Ted and Robin stuff is still going, it's not so bad once you figure out where it's leading to. And it's only fitting that Robin is the last hurdle between Ted meeting the mother.
Sepinwall says "If Ted meets the woman of his dreams at this wedding, and if only a short while before that wedding was he still having serious feelings for the former woman of his dreams, then how special is the Mother, or that relationship?" but that's the point. Despite some feelings for Ted probably creeping back up from Robin's side, she's obviously still going to shut the door on that happening, which is going to send Ted to rock bottom (something else they've been building to). Not to mention his best friends in Marshall and Lilly aren't going to be around during the time he's presumably going to need them the most and that opens the door for the mother to come in and bring Ted back up, which is what's going to help make her so special.Last edited by BlueNGold; 05-07-2013, 12:01 AM.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Re: How I Met Your Mother: Season 8
I don't think the Ted/ robin stuff is hinting so much about the two of them, but rather foreshadowing a big time fall out between Ted and Barney.
Remember how Barney shut down Ted a few episodes ago and said something along the lines of, "you think you know Robin better than I do? You don't. Robin is marrying me, not you" Well, the whole point of this episode was that Ted actually does know robin better than Barney, remember: "that's basic robinese for it is important" And yet Barney didn't know that it was important, and if he did know, he didn't care. So honestly, I see a big time conflict either next week or whenever season 9 startsComment

Re: How I Met Your Mother: Season 8
Where's the locket though? Did Barney actually find it? Did her dad? Did someone steal it?
Also, remember how Ted was looking at the bus stop? He had a bandage on his hand. After the episodes this season it appears Ted punches someone at the reception. Then he has a long talk with the mother on the train back to town.
I also bet that it's not Barney who he punches. If you remember, Ted is the best man at the wedding.Twitter

Spoiler" Ted invites Lily to see the final renovations he made on his house in Westchester"
Maybe nothing happened at the wedding and it was just something in his house? Based on how this season has been going, wouldn't be surprised if it was just something mini like that.Comment

Since it's for next weeks episode, I went ahead and edited your post. Probably nothing, but some folks might not want to know anything about the next episode, so just to be safeComment

Re: How I Met Your Mother: Season 8
lol, doubt anyone would be mad over that, it doesn't really spoil anything at all.
Either way, there has to be something about this season finale nobody is telling people about.
Why would CBS have HIMYM finale from 8-8:30 and 2 Broke Girls finale from 9-9:30 but from 8:30-9 it'd just be a rerun episode of Big Bang Theory(a show that doesn't even air on Mondays)....
Something HAD to have been planned for the HIMYM finale but was scrapped last minute, cause seemed like Rules of Engagement finale was supposed to be next monday, but it got changed to now air a week later.Comment

No idea what the hell they're planning on doing. This episode was pretty pointless until the last scene.Comment

Re: How I Met Your Mother: Season 8
There is still at least one more season. They have to save something. And considering he meets the mother at the wedding/something involving the wedding, it makes no sense for it to be next week. What would they do all of next season?Comment
