    Re: World War Z

I always wondered how they were going to make a movie from the book, considering it's a bunch of short stories.

Totally with Candyman on the zombie waves. That seems a little silly but I'll still go see it.

      Those are some fast zombies.

Looks like a 28 Weeks Later knock off. Could be a decent rental.

Those zombies look like they are on SPEED, 10x faster than the ones in 28 Days. Nobody could survive an onslaught like that.

          Zombies are the new vampires.

Pretty soon we'll see 18 year-old shirtless zombie douches in movies.

Wasn't there a little zombie fad before the new vamps started popping up?

Are we really going through a vampire or zombie "fad"? I'm pretty sure that there has been movies/TV shows about one or the other ever since I've been watching movies in the late 80s.

They are using aerial shots of Center City Philly for this movie. Love it.

The vampire movie cycle first started in the '30s and '40s then cooled off for 20-25 years then was pretty hot in the '70s and kinda went dormant for most of the '80s but yes vampire movies have been around in one form or another ever since the early days of Hollywood.

Zombies are a bit "newer" but since the early '60s there's been zombie movies of one kind or another but again, that subgenre of horror gets really hot for a while then fades away. It's more "fad" than vampire movies but even when dormant there are still lots of movies (big budget and small) that takes some cues from the zombie genre. It's really super hot right now though.

Actually just reading the book now and it is nothing like this movie. I'm not trying to get all geeky on this but fast zombies really doesn't make any sense. Shouldn't dead things move slowly, amirite?

They really need to change the name of this movie because it isn't remotely like the book. Disappointing because the book is fantastic.

They did a lot of re-writes and had to postpone production a couple times.

I haven't watched the trailer yet, but all the drama surrounding production has me not too hopeful.

These are more like I Am Legend zombies/vampires.

Hopefully that's just editing, but I very much saw some of them sprint. I don't know about the book but did the zombies SPRINT in them?

Yeah, the sprinting is ALL wrong here. I may see it depending on reviews, but they basically made another (what looks to be) run of the mill zombie movie, and slapped the name World War Z on it.
