    Re: Star Trek Into Darkness

What don't you like about Cumberbatch as Sherlock? First time I've heard of somebody disliking him in the role. I find the show, and his acting, incredible.

On the topic of Star Trek, just got back from a 2:30 showing and wasn't disappointed. Abrams sure knows how to keep an audiences attention. Despite the frenetic pace for the majority of the movie, pretty much everyone still got to play an important part.

Going to see this later today with my dad. My cousin (who works at the theaters so I get in free ) saw it and he said it was really good.

Saw it today in 3d at an early 10am showing. Was one of 10 people. That being said, it was great. Nonstop action, good pacing and all the main characters "grew up" so to speak.

I enjoyed this more than Iron Man 3 (which I really liked as well).

        3D was very well done.

My 9:15 am showing had about 70 people. I agree with your opinion of liking it more than Iron Man 3.

After reading all the good reviews on this movie, I'm going to finally get around to checking this movie out later on tonight.

I loved it. Love how JJ has taken all of the greatest Trek moments and made them work in his alternate universe. Thought it was far better than the first, which I simply loved. Loved how Harry Mudd got some love. All the little nods to the original really worked for me. Of course I have bought into the whole alternate reality storyline. Must own on Blu-Ray!

                      Re: Star Trek Into Darkness

Really loved the movie. I have minor gripes that I'm willing to settle with, but it was pretty frantic throughout and was a good ride. It strangely felt a bit smaller in scope, though. The Enterprise only had like two or three different settings, and each time you only saw just a few crew members. Didn't make you feel like they were a part of a much, much larger Starfleet group like in the first one.

Day one buy, and probably a re-watch when I have time between other summer blockbusters this year.

Think the "big twist" had to be that way. JJ seems to be really working hard to fully develop Spock. Without the storyline playing out the way it did, I don't think we'd see how deep the Spock character can be. I hate to say it, but Zachary Quinto could end up surpassing Nimoy. Just sayin'.....

Quinto turned out to be a perfect fit for the role. I had my doubts before the first movie. Only thing I recognized him in was Sylar on Heroes.

I don't know.... my daughter was watching it and I walked in the room to give it a test run. Really smarmy, conceited. Just didn't appeal to me.
