SpoilerI wish I was joking, but I actually got a little teary eyed during that scene. Not just that it was Emma, but she was a character that was easy to fall in love with. MJ has enormous shoes to fill.Alabama Crimson Tide

Re: The Amazing Spiderman Sequel (201?)
Finally got to see it yesterday in IMAX 3D. I can definitely understand the mixed reviews now, but I really don't think it was as bad as most people's opinions would make you think.
Did they try to do too much? Yes, definitely. Was the story lacking? Yes. The cast and acting however are all very good, the visuals are ****ing incredible (watching the opening scene of Spider-Man swinging through the city is jaw dropping), and the entire movie feels like you're watching the pages of a Spider-Man comic book coming to life.
This is by far the most authentic Spider-Man you'll see out of all of the movies. The suit, the wise-cracking, the web swinging, the little moments (walking the kid home), it's all there and it's exactly what you'd expect out of Spider-Man. Andrew Garfield is pretty much perfect in the role.
I know some people won't like that Peter isn't completely the geeky, nerdy kid they'd expect (I don't know if the Ultimate Spider-Man books kept that to a minimum like this movie), but I really liked how Peter was portrayed throughout the movie, especially when you compare him to ASM1. He had some quirky mannerisms in that movie but now that's he's fully embraced the role of being Spider-Man here, his confidence really shows outside of the suit. His struggles with his promise to Captain Stacy, Gwen leaving and the mystery of his parents (which really wasn't all that great of a payoff if you ask me) were all well played as well. I hope they can manage to keep Garfield in the role the same way Hugh Jackman has been kept around as Wolverine for so long.
It is strange though that for a movie that's nearly 2 and a half hours long that it still feels like they could have done more. I didn't necessarily hate how Harry, The Rhino and Electro were introduced and used. At the same time, I feel like Electro deserved to have more of a presence in the movie because Jamie Foxx was solid and Electro himself was just badass. Definitely a far cry from the classic green and yellow suited Electro you'd think of.
I think my biggest issue after the first viewing is the ending. To me that was much more rushed than Harry's storyline.SpoilerI thought the scene with Peter standing at Gwen's grave as the seasons passed by was really great and powerful but within 5 minutes it's like "Okay, time to suck it up and go be Spider-Man again". I just felt like there was a little bit of emotion lacking with him accepting her death because it was done in such a short period of time. Then again it could have just been me because I had been up for 24 hours before seeing the movie. I also didn't care too much for ending it right as he's fighting Rhino.
Anyways, all in all I definitely enjoyed it and don't think it was a bad movie. Thankfully it didn't enter Spider-Man 3 territory. That being said, I also agree with what jmood was saying that you can feel them jumping the gun to create an expanded universe and get that Avengers money instead of letting a lot of things develop naturally. It must suck for Marc Webb because I imagine there's a lot of being forced on him just to setup the Sinister Six and other future movies.
I still need to go see it again, but my initial opinion is that it's good and the best Spider-Man movie when it comes to being true to the character and the comics. IMO it seems like they still haven't put everything together just yet but that they're on the brink of giving us a really great movie, and hopefully that's what ASM3 is since Webb and Garfield are only signed on for one more.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Re: The Amazing Spiderman Sequel (201?)
I wanted to clarify that I don't think it was bad, just disappointing because there are things that I like but certain decisions could've made it a great movie but instead, it's just ok, which is a same.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

The Amazing Spiderman Sequel (201?)
Honestly, the movie gets a lot of points from me for:
Spoilergoing through with killing Gwen Stacy. Sure, as a comic fan you knew there was a possibility, but I can't think of another Marvel movie that actually made me feel something other than the standard "this is awesome" feeling you get from action scenes. I was actually pretty bummed about it when it happened.Comment

Re: The Amazing Spiderman Sequel (201?)
I saw it on my own and enjoyed it. Plenty of irks here and there, but web-slinging is at its finest and I enjoyed anything else that 'Peter Parker' was involved in story-wise.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: The Amazing Spiderman Sequel (201?)
Is it worth going to see with a hot woman that gets worked up by guys wearing Spider-man underroos? I have two unopened packs; one in my size, one in hers. I spent a month in a burn ward getting skin grafts after ASM 1.Comment
