The Amazing Spiderman 2

Figured with the recent casting news I'd just go-ahead and start a new thread for it instead of continuing in the original thread.

So far we have:

Garfield and Stone returning as Peter Parker and Gwen Stacey.

We also have Jaime Foxx as Electro.

Shailene Woodley as MJ. (Better than Dunst looks-wise, but she doesn't quite have the 'MJ' body, though I guess this is the real HS version so that's forgiveable to me. I expect OS to hate it.)

Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborne. (I like this one - kid was a solid creep in Chronicle so he should be able to pull both sides of this role off)

Also recently...Paul Giamatti is in talks to play Rhino and Felicity Jones is in talks to play an unspecified role.

Marc Webb will be returning as the director and hopes to begin production as soon as next month.

Adding Foxx and, hopefully, Giamatti will add some solid actors to play as villains, and the other two "main" character additions could be solid for their HS counterparts. With Webb returning, I'm looking forward to this one.

Enjoyed the reboot, just felt heavily edited with many missing scenes, especially the ones that made the trailers (even DVD trailers).

Electro makes sense based on the after credit scene, but that definitely wasn't Jamie Foxx LOL.

Like the slow burn up to the Goblin though, and I'm guessing we'll get the moment as well, probably in the 3rd movie.

I don't think Shailene Woodley is a good choice to play Mary Jane.

I liked the reboot a lot more than I thought I would, just as good as the first two Toby ones. My wife really liked the new one because of Gwen Stacy... I didn't have the heart to tell her about what probably lies in the sequels for her, lol.

I think the cast, how Spidey was written as a character, and the scenes between Garfield and Stone were great. The story and everything else felt a step below the first two Raimi films.

n The Amazing Spider-Man 2, for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy - between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can't come quickly enough. Peter hasn't forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen's father to protect her by staying away - but that's a promise he just can't keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.

Dude can act so who cares why. As long as he does a good job (which I have no doubt he will).

The same reason you don't put any front name/big name actor in a suit or cape for the most part. But especially don't put him in a one shot role. RD, Jr. as Iron Man has been somewhat of an exception, but when he took on the role, he wasn't exactly front-running in Hollywood. But Don Cheadle stepping in as Rhodie? No. I just think less recognizeable actors in comic book/hero roles works better overall. Love or hate Nicholas Cage, for example, was so strange in Ghost Rider. Didn't hear about Giamatti as Rhino.... seems like a horrendous choice. Now, this Dane DeHaan kid seems like a good choice since he can play that dark personality well.

So what does TOS have to do with this?
