So, instead we'd have ended up with toy versions of Chewie if they could've executed a planet full of Wookies? Damn, that'd have been nice to have as a kid.

I don't mind the Ewoks myself but that movie had other problems. The Stormtroopers were even MORE stupid in that one than all of the films. It seemed like Lucas wanted to make it slightly more comedic yet still be serious. It didn't quite work out that way and I think some of the things we complain about that movie could've been smoothed out if Irvin Kershner came back to direct. What we got instead was some guy who directed a couple very interesting movies but not too terribly accomplished at the helm.

That's was supposed to be the Emperor's elite fighting force on Endor. They were badly beaten by teddy bears with sticks and rocks. A land of Wookies would have at least been believable given Chewbacca's ability to fly the falcon and use weapons. And you are right, they tried to turn the storm troopers into a stupid slapstick keystones cops routine. Now that I think about it, they should have tied up George Lucas and thrown him in a broom closet after the Empire Strikes back. The series started going downhill with terminal velocity starting with ROJ.

Really looking forward to see what they bring to the table in episode VII.

It didn't help that in several scenes Carrie Fisher was definitely high as a kite especially the one scene where she first encounters the Ewoks.

I'm with you though, i'm really looking forward to seeing how Episode VII turns out.

I'd have had to be high as a kite too to perform a serious role with a bunch of little people in teddy bear costumes screaming Nub Yub.

The hate is strong in this one.

I love RoTJ, faults and all. First saw it as a kid and naturally, that colours my view of the film. Having rewatched it many times as an adult, I recognise what it did wrong compared to the first two films but it doesn't bring Star Wars down for me.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens

OK after thinking about the trailer more and watching it a zillion times I do think it's Luke in the trailer.

He said my father has is (Shows Vader helmet).

He says I have it. (Shows a hooded figure sitting that touches R2 with a metal arm) (Luke)

My sister has it (Shows a female hand grabbing a lightsaber)

Then he says "You have that power too"

Imo from pure speculation after watching the video Luke trained Leia in the ways of the force after the RoTJ movie so she knows how to use it in this one.

As for the main character I think it be the female on the trailer and I'm thinking she is Han and Leia's Daughter.

So just read that Spielberg is doing a Disney movie for the first time. Not trying to start anything but how epic would it be to have a Spielberg Star Wars movie? Getting goosebumps thinking about it.

That would be awesome but something tells me it's going to be a more family oriented movie. It's too bad it's 2015 as I think the Spielberg of the '80s/early '90s would've done an amazing job with Disney as his style at the time suited the kind of material Disney loves.

                              Those Snowtroopers look great.

They still haven't mentioned a peep who Domhnall Gleeson will play. Resemblance has me leaning towards a connection with Luke.
