Re: Dexter (Season 8)
Yes, but even that was to be expected because there was a scene in the Season 7 finale when she's out of prison where she leaves a plant for Dexter. That plant is also shown in the first episode of this season, so she was eventually going to make a return, unlike a character like Lumen.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Re: Dexter (Season 8)
For this season, maybe. For the show overall? Terrible.
What pisses me off is all these random characters that were literally just introduced this season are such key pieces to Dexter's final puzzle so to speak. Daniel, Elway, Vogel, U.S. Marshal guy whose name I'm forgetting, etc.
What was even the point of LaGuerta's death when there's been almost literally no fallout from it? Why not give all these side characters that have been on the show for every (or nearly every) season something significant to actually do instead of throwing together some bull**** side stories that amount to just about nothing?
The Dexter fan in me keeps holding out hope that this is all going to be worth it, but at this point I think it's just about time to admit that they blew it. And they blew it ****ing horribly.
And it's even more blatant when there's another TV Show over on AMC doing it about as well as it's ever been done.
Dexter's been just spinning tires for the first 8 episodes of the season and hitting the gas right at the end for the last few years. It's gotten tiring. I don't think there's any way it can give me a surprisingly good ending.[NYK|DAL|VT]

Re: Dexter (Season 8)
I will say that the first 3, maybe 4, episodes of this season seemed to be headed down an okay path. They were intriguing. And of course knowing that there were still a handful of episodes remaining helped in that as well.
What's happened since then though, I have no ****ing idea.
To me it just feels like something had to of happened behind the scenes for the writers to seemingly blow it this badly. I know Showtime has pressured them in the past on extending the show, and there's been talk of a spinoff (which has to be one of the stupidest ideas being that the only reason we watch this show is -- wait for it -- Dexter), so maybe that played a part? I don't know. What I do know is that what we've been presented as a "final season" is a joke.
The last episode especially hit that point home. That god awful scene with Harrison falling on the treadmill (in which you can also clearly see a large man posing as a stunt double for him as he falls) and the whole Deb/Quinn scene with the completely over-the-top soap opera music they've never used before being the "shining" examples.
I can somewhat understand not wanting to do what everyone was expecting and predicting with Dexter being caught/on the run. The problem is the alternative has been boring, uninteresting, at times painful to watch, and completely unworthy of the fans' time that have spent 7 years watching this show. There's 2 episodes left, so who knows what can happen. I honestly do think there can still be some kind of redemption here if they really hit it out of the park these next two Sundays. Let's just say that my hopes aren't exactly high though.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.

I had a slow-mo version, but can't find it. Yeah, I'm very concerned for the series finale.Comment

Re: Dexter (Season 8)
This show fell off a cliff after season 4. Seasons 5 and 6 were comically bad.
The show possibly could have ended on a better note if they had let the producers end the show in season 7 like they wanted instead of dragging it over 2 seasons.Comment

Re: Dexter (Season 8)
I'll still defend season 5 as an okay season. Of course it was nothing compared to the season it followed but it wasn't awful.
If they would of had the balls to let Deb find out about Dexter in the season finale, it would have been a very good or even great season. Instead they just teased it and bitched out, and also wrapped up every conflict and storyline perfectly clean.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. Re: Dexter (Season 8)
I agree and I will also defend parts of Season 7. IMO, it had a fantastic beginning and the deb/dexter stuff was great to start off, as well as Ray Stevenson's character. Laguerta arresting Dexter and then almost getting fired when Dexter was one step ahead, was also great. (and doakes!)
I think if you were to introduce someone to this show, you could easily skip 3 and 6 and hardly miss anything important or tangible to the overall story of the show, save for Rita revealing she's pregnant and Deb finding Dexter killing Travis. They'd probably have a more enjoyable time watching that way as well.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.

Re: Dexter (Season 8)
I watched the first few shows this season and got quickly bored, I just couldn't take it anymore once I saw the direction they were going in. I had the house to myself yesterday and it was raining so I thought WTF I'll catch up and see if its as bad as I feared.
It wasn't, it's actually 10 times worse. This has to be the worst final season in TV history for a show that knew it was going to end and had time to prepare for it. What a cluste****. Anybody who finds this season at all compelling should be the next victim for that brain killer guy because there obviously is a deformity somewhere in that cranium of yours.
Its like the writers said **** you, we're gonna make this as stupid as possible or its got to be a practical joke and the real final season will start in October.
There are apparently legit spoilers online and from reading it, it sets new standards in ridiculousness that its almost must watch TV. It is that bad and comedic. Those of you who are into self torture is gonna find that last show a treat.
Hopefully the last scene is Bobby Ewing in the shower and this whole wretched season was a dream.Last edited by Seymour Scagnetti; 09-14-2013, 11:28 PM.Comment

Re: Dexter (Season 8)
No writers could be this incompetent, they must really consider this show a parody now and decided "WTF, we'll go out in a blaze of glory and piss off all the fans who complained the show has gone off the rails anyways". Its Iike they hired the cast of Jersey Shore to write this season.
I stopped watching after the 7th or 8th show but then I heard about the treadmill scene so I watched the last couple of episodes and that scene was worth it in comedic gold. I could care less about the mystery of the finale now, that's why I read the spoilers and if it is that ridiculous then its must see TV. I'll know by the conclusion of tomorrows show whether those spoilers are true. If so then i wont miss the finale for the world because you can't help but watch a complete train wreck so devastating as this one is.Last edited by Seymour Scagnetti; 09-15-2013, 02:33 AM.Comment

Re: Dexter (Season 8)
This guy basically just outdid everything these writers have done this season in a 6 minute Youtube video. I don't know whether this is sad, hilarious or both.
