Not that good then. (If you're an astrophysicist.)

Because I watch movies for ultra-realism.

      That's what documentaries are for.

        Re: Gravity

I'm a really big geek when it comes to watching movies the way they're supposed to be seen, so:

Is IMAX the way to go or will regular 3D be fine? I also have the option of seeing it in Dolby Atmos, but everyone keeps talking about the 3D (Atmos here only shows digital 2D for some reason)! Gravity doesn't really scream IMAX to me but if people say it's worth it, might as well!

See it in IMAX if you have that option. The Earth and Space scenes on that big screen can't be missed.

Saw this last night in 3D. I enjoyed it. My wife wasn't the biggest fan. The visuals are great. I agree with the above poster that they could've done a little better job developing the characters. You definitely are rooting for them, but I think the movie could have even been more intense if you cared a little more about them.

Not a movie a will watch again, but I'm glad I went to see it. It's worth your time and money to see it in IMAX or 3D especially.

Saw it in IMAX 3D. A visual masterpiece, I was constantly amazed at how incredible this movie looked.

But... the emotional connection with the characters just wasn't there. Wasn't a big fan of the dialogue either. Overall, a bit disappointing.

                Re: Gravity

Saw it in 3D cause my IMAX theatre wasn't showing it for some reason. Visuals were stunning and the use of audio to convey the lack of sound in space, to disorient the viewer, etc. was well-done. Story-wise though, I felt it was so-so but Bullock certainly carries the movie - especially her breathing.

                Gravity hammered two things home:
                1. Space can be a scary mofo. Watching all these sci-fi shows, it's always been "YEAH! Space would be cool!!!" but then Gravity shows a "realistic" (quotes because Neil de Grasse Tyson) view of what drifting in space looks like and boy would I not want to be there without my own jet pack (or rather, what Clooney was using).

                2. George Clooney can calm yo sorry *** down.

                8/10.

                  Re: Gravity

I loved it. I'd recommend 3D and IMAX. It was wonderfully immersive. I was completely fine with the storyline, the back story, and the connection to the characters. I didn't feel I needed much to become connected to the characters and their situation at hand. It kind of felt like I was a part of the action and adventure from the start.

"Stunning" was the first word to come to mind as I left the theatre. I was undoubtedly entertained and the only criticism I could throw out there would simply be for the sake of criticizing. I had no feelings of, "It was great but..."

                  It was just... an experience.

Same here, saw it earlier in the week and loved it. I share much the same sentiment as VDusen. I kind of want to go back and see it again.

Saw it in IMAX 3D last night. Liked it, good movie, some nice visuals, although not neccessary to see 3D version, and I love 3D. My girl liked it too, but neither of us were blown away.

Heard all these rumblings about how great it was, so didn't read any reviews or previews and just went. All I knew was it was in space with a couple of astronauts. Saw the end coming a mile away, but that's ok. I enjoyed it but in no way is it this mind blowing experience, it's a good little movie.

It was ok. I saw it in standard 2D with my parents and visually it was nice, but nothing really stuck out to me. I'd give it a 6.5/10.

I saw it in 3D in the theater this weekend and I thought it was pretty awesome. The 3D effect really helped it out, IMO.

I also appreciated how they tried to stay somewhat realistic with no sound in space, etc.

Just seen it last night, it was decent but I expected it to be better with all the hype surrounding it. Its not a bad movie but it's definitely not this great movie reviews are making it out to be. With that being said, I do hope theirs a sequel.

Seems like most movies critics like Rotten Tomatoes rate high are always not that good to me, but a lot of low rated movies by RT etc. I seem to enjoy.

Be cautious watching this movie if you get motion sickness, not because of the 3D but because at the beginning of the movie Sandra Bullock is spinning around in space so much I almost got nauseous and I don't even get motion sickness.
