    Re: Gravity

Lol, I was watching that trailer this morning and when I heard the explosion I shook my head. I just knew the geeks would be out en masse complaining about how there is no sound in space.

Looks interesting, looking forward to the blu-ray release.
    PS: You guys are great.

        Re: Gravity

I'm a sucker for space movies so I will probably see it as some point. And yeah, they wouldn't be able to hear the explosion unless they were in the space station.

Why not? It could usher in the silent movie comeback craze.

They did it for the outside space scenes in 2001: A Space Odyssey and that was 45 years ago.

45 years ago people could handle that. Today's regular old movie-goers would not be fond of a largely silent movie.

                      A 17-minute single-shot opening scene? Multiple 6, 8, and 10 minute shots?

Absolutely cannot wait for this. Children of Men was awesome, this is shaping up to be just as good.

I came in to say that I am a sucker for space movies..

This one has been getting a lot of love on Rottentomatoes. It's at 94% off of 33 reviews. Seems like a must watch come October.

Like me, you've all seen the TV spots, or spot for that matter.

Makes me think it's one of those Oscar pushers with the cast, and that may be an unfair statement to make. Like, it's a 127 Hours kind of film when Buried could have been made. My mom wouldn't ever be interested in a film like this, but she saw Bullock and Clooney and went: "Ooo, that could be scary," instead of the other way around like: "Ugh, that looks scary and stupid."

It's short at 90 minutes, though. If the reviews really are saying it's pretty good stuff, I'll give it a whirl. I still have a bad aftertaste from Apollo 18, and want a different "lost in space" movie to fill the void. Don't know how much of it will actually be buildup and how much will be in space, though. Like people have said, it feels like that is the movie right there.
