Not sure. I thought the cutoff was earlier but Fargo and True Detective received noms too.

EDIT: Nah, I looked at it from the other end. The cutoff date is May 31st (a show must air at least 6 episodes) so it's the first season that the Emmys are considering. (i think)

1st season-July 11, 2013
2nd Season-June 6, 2014

I kind of figured considering Chapman and Burset were nominated and their roles were reduced greatly in season 2.

Any decent actor/actress, yes. A "mob" boss that falls of the mountain then ends up changing her ways or with a warm heart of whatever. I'm not trying to take away anything from. I'm just saying the crazy eyes character was so much more.

Well, the roles are very different. Crazy Eyes allows the actress to have a wider range and fill that range to make her look bat**** crazy. Red is more down to Earth and doesn't have such big shifts in emotion or mannerism, but I would say is more nuanced with her emotional shifts and essentially being the lead in the last half of season 2.

I would say both actresses do a wonderful job in their respective roles.

Red is more down to Earth and doesn't have such big shifts in emotion or mannerism, but I would say is more nuanced with her emotional shifts and essentially being the lead in the last half of season 2.

I would say both actresses do a wonderful job in their respective roles.

Seeing the actress who plays Crazy Eyes in real life and hearing her talk makes me even more impressed with her character.

Wider range of emotions is actually more difficult, imo. It's not easy to go from one extreme to the next. She hit every emotion possible and made you feel exactly what she was feeling. Or at least made you aware of it. I've seen Red's character in other movies. Other shows.

I never really felt like Crazy Eyes had a good medium or that balance for a normal character. She always felt on the extremities to me. Season one had her as a stronger side character, but she felt delegated to just plain crazy and bullish on season 2. I just think the "crazy" characters give the actors more freedom to roam. Not necessarily meaning one role is more difficult than the others.

Both were nominated anyway which I have no problem with. Red and Crazy Eyes are two of the best characters in season 1. Both are common character types, but the performances are better than most.

I am confused by something. Is Rosa like, Russian in current times? Her voice has a very eastern European tone to me yet she is spanish/Mexican in the past?
