1. Mickey Doyle, Boardwalk Empire

As far as mob henchmen go, Mickey Doyle is the pits. His jokes fall flat, his work ethic is near nonexistent, and his loyalty for boss Nucky Thompson is constantly in question. He’s been pinched by the feds a number of times for liquor violations, putting Thompson’s operation in danger each time, and, honestly, if U.S. Marshals had offered witness protection in the ’20s, Doyle probably would have sold Nucky up the river 10 times over by the show’s third season. How he’s still alive—especially with his absolutely creepy laugh—is completely inexplicable, and yet, were Thompson to kill him, viewers would probably deride the boss (who’s a little greasy himself) for being a heartless jerk. Some fights, just can’t be won.

Called Verizon this morning to order HBO! I order and cancel HBO when Boardwalk Empire starts and when it ends. Can't wait for the start of Season 4 tonight!

So, nobody else watched this yet?

The first episode was great and I am so happy that Harrow is still a huge part of the show, as he is my favorite character. The only bummer was no Van Alden, but I'm sure we'll be catching up with him soon enough.

I watched it. Enjoyed it as well. The scene with Dunn Purnsley and the broken bottle was very intense! I'm on vacation in Tampa beginning Saturday, so I hope the resort I'm staying at there has HBO so I can watch. If not, I'll DVR it just in case for when I get home.

I was also hoping to see some Van Alden, but I guess they can't show everyone in only 1 hour.

Richard Harrow just hit his breaking point. Hopefully his story arc doesn't end soon. If he dies, I'm going to be devastated.

And Jeffrey Wright is going to help carry this entire season. He is that ******* good.

I'm loving this season so far. This past episode was glorious. Lot's of Harrow, Capone and Van A... I mean George Mueller. Eddie really shined in this one too, plus we got the introduction of J.Edgar Hoover - which was awesome. That Knox guy seems like a genuine psychopath and I still haven't even touched on Chalky and his run in with Narcisse yet.

I'm with 55 though. If Harrow dies, I'm going to be very disappointed. Sadly, as of now it seems that his story may be coming to an end. Especially now that he has reconciled with his sister and doesn't want to kill anymore. I felt like getting those back taxes taken care of was the last thing that was keeping him going. However, we got that last twist there at the end of the episode that should at the very least give him a few more episodes.

Harrow's soul searching at his sister's house could have it's purposes but I'm glad they're moving on. He needs to be in the thick of criminal activity.

My thoughts as well. He was showing his power since he's pretty much a pee-on for the big shots and then felt bad.

Dr. Narcisse is a great new character. He's going to really muck things up for Chalkie and Nuckie. He'll, anyone not named Dr. Narcisse better watch it.

Am I the only one that didn't even realize that was Patricia Arquette until the credits rolled?

Also, I wonder what's become of Margaret. Three episodes in and not a single appearance, yet Kelly Macdonald is still the second credited person on the intro. Strange.
