I thought the first one was only okay. Obviously it was good, but I think people like it way more than I do. I think part of it is the matter of having the gods and Hulk trying to hurt each other, and they simply can't do so. Makes fighting each other sometimes seem pointless. Then you get Black Widow and Hawkeye not have to fight as difficult of enemies because they simply aren't able to do as much.

My favorite Marvel movies so far are IM 1 & 3 and The Winter Soldier. GotG and The Avengers are below those, right next to The Incredible Hulk. IM2 has something going for it but is not my cup of tea, Thor 1 & 2 suck, and CA: The First Avenger gets bad around the time he gets his powers. I have not seen Age of Ultron yet.

I think the main reason that I liked the first one more than Ultron is simply Loki felt like a legitimate threat to the World. Ultron seemed like a malfunction piece of equipment that was simply dealt with.

I never felt at any point like Ultron had a chance to succeed. Because the Avengers never showed real hostility or tension with each other.

Ultron was a decent enough threat, and there will obviously be a bigger rift between Cap and Iron Man going forward that will build on things that have happened previously, and happened in this movie.

I think they are trying to NOT show too much weakness in the Avengers until Infinity War, where Thanos will be THE ultimate threat.

It's hard to describe this movie....

People ask me is it better than the first but it doesn't feel like a fair question. I don't think anything will ever surpass the nerdgasm I got during the final action scene of the first movie. So no, I wouldn't rank it better than than the first, or even better than a couple of the other Marvel films but I really enjoyed myself...and like someone else said I think that's a testament to the quality Marvel has put out....just a couple things that I liked:

I like what they did with Hawkeye and Black Widow....I think it was important to add some depth to the non powered characters, who are the only two without solo installments...it certainly grabbed the attention of the casual comic fans that were with me.

They showed just how dangerous the Hulk can be when uncontrolled...I mean, they didn't show it directly, but he was seriously harming/killing people during his rampage.....and it made Bruce Banners hesitance/caution seem a lot more real...and lays a foundation for the publics distrust with Civil War upcoming...

I understand what you mean with the way your describing Hulk, but I felt like the movie never really took that seriously. Yes the undertone is meant to represent that our heroes are sort of out of control, it's the whole "who watches the watchmen" scenario but it never truly comes across in the film.

Yes banner was a little reluctant but never did I truly get a sense that he was terrified of becoming the hulk because of his inability to control him; with that being said.......is Hulk controllable, is he uncontrollable? End of the last movie he sort of came in his own and could take orders. We're somewhat led to believe that in the beginning of this movie he's somewhat tamed because widow is giving him orders to take out the bonker.

And at the end, hes definitely conscious of his decisions because he saves Widow and ignores the call. If he's going to be a focal main character, they need to establish that he has control, yes he's an angry fella but he has reasoning to his madness.

And anyone else wonder why his illusions were the only ones not shown,while ironman, widow, Thor and Captain's were shown??

I hear you, it wasn't as strong as it could have been, especially Banners conflict...but I can't recall the last time I've seen a civilian hurt directly from the destruction of these heros....and it wasn't some soilder that got hurt, it was a older lady crying, bleeding from the head....I don't know man, I think they took it up a notch there....not to mention the implied deaths from the people in vehicles....

As far as Hulk, the only reason he went on a rampage is because the Witch messed with his head.....and I think that's part of the theme, it's the second movie in a row where he was targeted that way. He's gained control of the Hulk, but as we see that can be manipulated....

Saw it this afternoon with my wife. All of the reviews make sense. It was a good and fun movie, but nothing earth-shattering. It sets up phase 3, nicely.

I took the day off for my birthday and caught a matinee. No crowd was nice.

I liked it. It's in there with Winter Soldier and the first Avengers for me on the Marvel list. I'm not sure what order I'd rank them in.

But, having watched GoTG again last night, that's still far and away my #1 Marvel movie.

Went and saw it again. In IMAX 3D this time. Still really good. I don't usually watch 3D (not my cup of tea) but I thought it was well done. And damn that IMAX screen is huge. Caught a few extra things this time to. Nothing earth shattering but some cool tidbits.

I thoroughly enjoyed this film. I think its equal parts as awesome as GotG. I think I would enjoy re-watching age of ultron a lot, theres just some great fight scenes and touching moments IMO.
