    Creed

Right now, director Ryan Coogler and star Michael B. Jordan are enjoying plenty of critical success from their Sundance selected, Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award winner, Fruitvale Station. The film is slowly making its way to more theaters across the country, and the film has landed Coogler and Jordan an interesting project set up

Re: Rocky Spin-off "Creed" in the Works

eehhhh.....I was hoping for an origin flick about Apollo Creed's life up to the point that he takes on Rocky in the first two Rocky movies. I know that originally Apollo Creed was a stand in for Muhammed Ali but I never got that sense about Creed being a figure like that but rather someone who was out to make a buck. It'd be interesting to see how a guy of that type rose to the top and why he felt the need to give Rocky a chance at the title in the first place.

I have no interest in seeing Rocky basically being Mickey to Creed's grandson.

Could turn out to be okay. I actually enjoyed the latest Rocky movie quite a bit.

I won't watch it unless the reviews are very good.

yeah, I movie about apollo creed up until the first Rocky fight would be epic. I mean to call it "Creed" is ridonculous with one of the main characters in the series having that name, and now its his grandson?

Didnt we already do this in Rocky 5?

Its like having a movie called Drago, and it being about someone in Ivan Dragos bloodline boxing. Drago is Ivan Drago in Rocky context, to name a movie Drago, and it not have anything to do with Ivan Drago is Riduculous.

I digress, if they removed Rocky and Sylvester Stallone from Creed, it might make me feel better having a standalone movie with some references, but it sounds like they are almost making Rocky 7.

They said in the first Rocky movie. Creed looked at it as a publicity stunt and giving some nobody a shot at the world title would make him look compassionate, etc. Just wanted the positive publicity.

That's true but there has to be a larger context to it. Maybe Creed was losing popularity in the boxing world or people were becoming bored of him because he was so dominant etc etc.

I'm sure they'll use that scene in the film, where Rocky may have some remorse or guilt for what happened to Creed. Maybe the kid gets misled and blames Rocky and there is a dynamic there that gets worked out.

I will see this movie on day one. I hope they use the Bill Conti music and give it a good traditional Rocky feel.

He was supposed to fight a high contender in a Bicentennial fight. When the contender hurt his hand and no one else agreed to fight they had to dig deep to get a fight people wanted to see.

Started searching and seen a boxer called the "Italian Stallion"

i say we give it a chance....i was skeptical about rocky balboa too and it turned out great. i think this plot could work. son of rocky could not because rocky's son was never into boxing in the first place. you have some things to work with here. rocky's guilt over not throwing in the towel for apollo (even though apollo didn't want him to), rocky too old to fight anymore, apollo's grandson wanting to get the title back for his grandfather, his grandson having the skill but not the heart, going against the wishes of his family due to apollo's death in the ring, a chance to renew the franchise for a new generation and changing the lead character in the process.
