Re: Game of Thrones Season 4 (aka A Storm of Swords: Part Deux)
So awful and amazing at the same time.
My wife and I were high fiving when Mountain went down, but my blood began to run cold when Oberyn kept peppering him with his demands for a confession.
Bad way to go out.
EDIT: For those of you who have read the books...
After this season I would like to read the corresponding books that the TV series has covered.
I don't wan't to go ahead of the show, for obvious reasons.
Which books should I get?Last edited by LingeringRegime; 06-02-2014, 09:14 AM.Comment

People trying to find loopholes to save Tyrion are cute.
A Game of Thrones, A Clash of Kings, and A Storm of Swords. So awful and amazing at the same time.

Yup. Like the Red Wedding it is one of those things that in hindsight the reader/viewer realizes they should have seen coming, but when you experience it for the first time it leaves you speechless.
GoT, A Clash of Kings and A Storm of Swords.Last edited by coogrfan; 06-02-2014, 09:28 AM.Comment

Game of Thrones Season 4 (aka A Storm of Swords: Part Deux)
In a way he did win just in the fact that he seemed hell bent on revenge and getting a confession, although not quite the one he wanted. This of course assuming The Mountain is dead, which I presume he is or will be soon.
Tyrion on the other hand idk, GoT logic says he's dead but to quote Wolverine "He's a survivor".Saints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment

Both my girl and I were screaming at the TV 'JUST KILL THE GUY!!!', I agree with someone who said earlier that the unpredictability of this show is getting predictable. I knew when he didn't do it right away that something screwy was going to happen, but I did not expect to see his head get squashed Ron Simmons style, I laughed so hysterically while I thought she was going to cry.
I really thought things were going to start turning for the good guys this season, I guess not! lolAlways looking for solid CF25 Dynasty owners, follow the link to get started >> PS5 P5 Dynasty DiscordComment

You know the Mountain aint dead. That would be justice happening and lol this aint the show to watch for some justice. In a way he did win just in the fact that he seemed hell bent on revenge and getting a confession, although not quite the one he wanted. And no Oberyn lost completely. He was tripped and lost all that speed and agility he was showing off for 3 minutes prior. And was squished. He failed big time. The mega L was taken by him there.
This is a good way to put how Im feeling about this show lately. Im kinda like LOL whatevs to most of the "shocking" things that happen in this show. Im so numb to it now. The only things that shock me is when the dicks get their just desserts. And since Joffrey is gone, all the shock potential is pretty dead for me these days.Last edited by kingkilla56; 06-02-2014, 10:08 AM.Comment

Re: Game of Thrones Season 4 (aka A Storm of Swords: Part Deux)
Book spoilers
Spoiler
We don't know for sure in the books.
Oberyn used a poison spear so The Mountain will die slowly and in extreme pain (over the course of several weeks) in the books, though his wounds in the show might kill him sooner.
The Mountain supposedly dies and his skull is sent to Dorne to Doran Martell as a peace-treaty type of move from the Lannisters. However in ADWD, a Ser Robert Strong is revealed that is enormous, essentially the same size as The Mountain, but he never talks/eats or removes his helm to reveal his face so his identity is unconfirmed.
Last night's episode was great. They did a wonderful job sticking to the book for the fight scene though I agree with redsule that it would have been perfect if they showed Tyrion more during the fight, including his great quote and then ultimately having him vomit after Oberyn is killed. Would have completely knocked it out of the park.
Pedro Pascal was so great in that scene, pointing his spear at Tywin while screaming "Who gave the order!". For show-only people, did Oberyn's hate/obsession for The Mountain throughout the season come across well? Were you aware of how much he hated The Mountain and how badly he wanted revenge the first seven episodes? I felt like in the book it was much more clearly defined.
Good to see Sansa finally growing a pair and not being a dainty princess. That was a long time coming.
It's crazy that we have the Dreadfort crew marching to Winterfell (happens mid-to-late Book 5) while we still have huge things from Book 3 that we haven't seen yet in the show."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Lost in the fight was the hound and Arya finally getting to the Eyrie. When she just started cracking up it made me laugh as it caught me totally off guard.
