It's full blown 24 now. Realism out the window. I'm ok with it because the characters just aren't interesting enough to carry the show any other way.

lol "suspend belief" & "realism". Seriously If people want realism so much they should watch documentaries instead.

        Terrific contribution.

I think most people had more expectations for this show, considering how awesome Season 1 was, than devolving into the next 24.

What a dumb comment. Realism matters in a show thats based in our current world. Based on your comment, we should be OK if they introduce superheroes or vampires into Homeland.

S1 was awesome. I felt the wheels coming off the bus in S2. S3 has been a disaster. They are going to have to knock it out of the part with the S3 finale and start of S4 to keep me on board.

I really don't think its been that bad. Especially the last few episodes. I do agree season 1 was amazing though.

Maybe I just have low standards.

It just feels like a different show from season 1. Regarding the 24 comparison, at least that show was clear up front that it wasnt supposed to be taken seriously. I dont knock anyone who still enjoys this show but its difficult for us who loved the first season to see the show's drop in quality.

Dumb? No not really I'm actually reading the Nathaniel Cade book series, he's a Vampire who works for the president as an agent. It's a pretty good read you should look into it if that's what you're into.

My point is realism 8x of 10 is boring, it's why many shows add ridiculous situations to generate entertainment. Putting good guys into impossible situations only to have them overcome them for our enjoyment. If you don't like the way a show plays out that's fine. It's still all fake not just parts you don't like.

I wouldn't say your comments are "dumb" that's rude. I just find them funny.

The Wire was a completely realistic show and it was one of the greatest shows of all time.

The Sopranos was a realistic show and it was one of the greatest shows of all time.

Breaking Bad was realistic (with a few small exceptions) and it was one of the greatest shows of all time.

Mad Men is a completely realistic show and it was one of the greatest shows of all time.

I could go on forever but I think you get my point. That "8 out of 10" number is complete BS. There are hundreds of good to great series that are completely realistic. There are also hundreds of good to great series that are complete fantasy. You cant do both. One of the reasons people liked 24 was because it was accepted that what was happening was fantasy and unrealistic.

The point most ppl are making about Homeland is it was pretty realistic in Season 1 and people loved it. Then they went switched to a 24 like show last year and the tide has turned. Ratings are dropping. Critics are bashing it. A complete switch from season 1.

Finally, yes I would call your comments "dumb." You suggested that people who enjoy realistic dramas should watch documentaries when there are plenty of good realistic TV dramas around. Thats dumb.

You're comparing drug crime based dramas(besides Mad men I assume) to counter-terrorism dramas.

I'd like to see you go on forever naming "realistic" terrorism dramas.

Now you are moving away from your original argument and trying to use semantics to support an argument you never attempted to make. You didnt specify "terrorism dramas". You said realism in general is "boring" on TV.

Did I say that? No, but let's assume as you already did I meant shows in general.

It doesn't make my second argument which you conveniently avoided any less true. "There are hundreds of good to great shows that are completely realistic" surely you can name 10 terrorism dramas... Maybe 5.

I think it's been fantastic this season, even more so the past few episodes.

One there are like 4 terrorism dramas that ever aired on American TV. 24, Homeland, The Unit (which was pretty realistic) and Sleeper Cell. Two, Homeland did a pretty damn good job with realism in Season 1 and guess what? THATS THE SEASON EVERYBODY LOVES!! So your "realistic terrorism dramas are boring" argument is BS because no one thinks Season 1 was boring.

                              Finally here is your quote:

"lol "suspend belief" & "realism". Seriously If people want realism so much they should watch documentaries instead."

You didnt specify "terrorism dramas." If that was your intent you probably should have specified "terrorism documentaries" too. Anyway, I'll let this go. I'm probably out on this show unless the last two eps this season wow me. I think its pathetic though that because people complain about the lack of realism in a show that used to be pretty realistic, you tell them to go watch documentaries.
