For instance, they have spent how many episodes valuing a place to lay their head, and keeping a low profile to avoid attracting a horde, but last night they felt like saying **** it and burning down a house, for really no other reason other than personal gratification.

    Ok.

Agreed. There's a lot of episodes like these past 3 ahead if they don't skip ahead some.

TWD is trending downward. No longer must watch tv sunday nights. True detective replaced it awhile ago. I hope the show recovers but the last 2 seasons have been nothing but meh.

So after three seasons into this season especially I'm beginning to have the same attitude towards the show as the characters have with zombies - becoming indifferent. I hope it picks back up to where I don't feel like I watched an hours worth of people not doing or saying much of anything of substance.

I agree. Right now I feel like "eh" about the show. I hate that too.

It was interesting seeing Darryl showing a little emotion. I think that was the first time all series he has really let his guard down like that (other than when Merle died, but that was more shock than anything, I think)

Like the actress said on Talking Dead, it was more about having a mission. Having something to do.

                Ok.
I think we have to put ourselves in their position a little bit. Sure, it's easy for us to sit here one hour a week and go into survival mode. "Why would you do that?! It will attract walkers!"

I mean, if you are constantly, 24/7, living life in that intense survival mode, what kind of life is that? I can totally understand why they might do something like that. Plus, they know the walkers will be attracted to the fire itself, so if they see a ton of walkers, they can just slip away into the woods. They're used to being on the run so it's not like having to evade walkers is anything new to them.

I think this goes for Beth needing that drink as well; when you're living like they are, having something to do, any kind of distraction, could be a wonderful thing.

People keep talking about logic in this series. I like to point out that every tv series breaks logic at some point. Even Breaking bad had stuff happen that was like wtf for more drama and story purposes.

I think you missed the point. Or maybe I'm over-analyzing the situation.

During their intense drunken talk, Darryl revealed that the only reason he goes on with his "I don't care/bad boy" image is because of his past life and the abuse he received when he was younger made him the the man he is now.

Beth tried to explain that his junkie mother, abusive dad, and menacing brother were all dead and in his past now and they shouldn't be affecting how he lives his life now.

That's when Darryl interrupted and said "Let's go inside."

This was when Beth suggested to burn down the house. If you remember, when they first get to the house, Darryl talked about how it reminded him of the house he grew up in and even detailed what his abusive dad would do.

This brought out the emotion in Darryl.. It brought out anger and hatred.

This is why Beth wanted to burn down the house. It's kind of like burning the past and looking towards the future. Darryl agreed and it even showed him smile a little bit as they walked away.

This episode is pretty freaking tense with the Daryl scene and the Sasha/Maggie scene.
