Can that possibly be coincidence? It's the same damn euphemism!
Growing up, me and my buddies always used that terminology when speaking about someone moving in on your woman.
I'm sure that's what was implied with that scene.

The show has been slow moving but I'm not complaining. The dialogue between MM and Woody has been outstanding.

Maybe it's because most all shows today are at 100mph but I'm loving the slow, methodical pacing of this show. Also love Mr. Sunshine Matt McConaugheys character LOL

Yeah, I also like the pacing and subtlety of the show, but it looks like it might get cranked up in two weeks.

I'm enjoying the pacing too, but it definitely feels like things are about to blow up; between Rust and Marty, with the whole case, between Marty and his wife, with the interviews the other detectives are conducting with (future) Rust and Marty.

Love the development of the characters too. The dialogue is great, particularly from Rust who's character is pretty unique I think, and Harrelson is really bring out the flawed human in Marty.

Might have to watch the first three episodes again during the week following the Super Bowl since we won't have a new episode.

Was anyone else creeped the **** out at the final scene where they showed the guy in his whitey-tighties and that mask looking thing on? Just gave me the heebie-jeebies, lol

Certainly had that Texas Chainsaw Massacre vibe to it.

Re: New HBO Series True Detective (McConaughey and Harrelson)

I'm fascinated with how this series is gonna end because it's been established from that ending scene who the killer is and I assume they are gonna catch him since that it's been confirmed they caught someone yet there's a copycat pulling off the same crime years later. I can't see them having a cop out ending with one of MM or Woody now doing the killing with the dual personality crap, at least I hope not. I'm confused at what theme this show is supposed to be following which has certainly kept my interest. I see an ambiguous ending coming but I hope it's not too open ended.

I guess the next episode will reveal alot as to how much they stretch out finding the killer from 1998 and how much they concentrate on finding the present killer.

I hope not. They have showed Woody a little off and MM's character speaks for itself. I don 't see them going there. My only thought is, "is the writer(s) trying to make you look the detectives way?"

To this armchair detective, it looks like the writers are setting it up to be the governor's cousin, the guy leading the task force they want to get the case thrown to who also was the guy funding the school the previously unknown victim attended.

They have been showing that scene in the previews since before the show started and yes, that is one haunting image. Been waiting for it to show up.

I just wanted to add that I feel sorry for people in Louisiana because this show makes that part of the state they're in look spooky and like a barren wasteland lol

This is definitely happening, and it's gonna be Woody. Just a hunch.
