Even in different states, since they don't differentiate personal accounts from business, there is no way to know, without some serious ($$$) examination, if the share is legit or not. I would say that, probably, account share will go away at some point. It should probably go away before they raise rates.

Re: Amazon Prime price going up... $20- $40
Fresh is the grocery/restaurant/local shop delivery thing. If they had that here I'd be tempted to pay $300 for it, after researching pricing that is. It has some problems, not the least of which is they expect you to tip delivery drivers.Comment

Re: Amazon Prime price going up... $20- $40
No way I would pay $299 a year and be expected to tip on top of that. I would feel like I am tipping just so the driver doesn't mess with my groceries.
I hope Amazon fixes how your account syncs over various devices. I bounce around from my PC, blu-ray player, and 360 for watching stuff and it never remembers what episode I was on. Netflix it pops up right away the last thing you were watching and takes you to where you left off.Comment

Re: Amazon Prime price going up... $20- $40
I've shared my Prime account with friends and family. No problems here. At my last job, my coworker was the reason I got in to Amazon.. So I added him to my Prime account. He still uses my Prime till this day.
Slowly, I'm fading away from Prime. I used to be huge with their Subscribe and Save promo's, but it seems as if they're slowly raising the prices on those items. Lately, I've been finding better or similar prices at Costco and Sam's Club with their toilet paper, paper towels, and other everyday essentials.Comment

Re: Amazon Prime price going up... $20- $40
Just ordered some shoes, boxers, and protein shake and will be here for free on Wednesday. I can return the shoes and boxers (gross) for free if I need to also. Not having to go to the mall + not having to wait a week = never getting rid of it. I hope there is a big drop so I can grab some Amazon stock before everyone realizes how convenient it was and comes rushing back.Comment

i love amazon prime, but i don't know if i could pay 100-120 for it. I use Amazon Prime a lot mainly because i'm in college, but i don't know if i'll keep it after my student discount goes away. Even though i live on it.Last edited by Ed26; 02-17-2014, 06:25 PM.MLB: Boston Red Sox, Atlanta Braves

Re: Amazon Prime price going up... $20- $40
If it only goes up $20, I guess I'm not seeing the big deal. That's just an extra $1.67 a month. Is that really enough of an increase to give up free shipping?Comment

Re: Amazon Prime price going up... $20- $40
It's not free shipping, you are still paying, it's just paying by aggregate.
And yes, another $20 makes it too expensive. Every service, good, etc has a threshold where cost exceeds value, to me $80 for prime was already straining that threshold, an extra $20 shatters it. the problem with saying it's "just" x a month is that they don't charge per month, so next January if they raise it I can either spend $100 on Prime, or $100 on something else, like this year that could have been a Gold Wireless Headset.Comment

I'm betting they put in some kind of installment plan since that seems to be the biggest concern so far outside of it actually costing more money.Comment

Honestly, unless you're buying a few items weekly from Amazon, or heavy items that cost more to ship, the fee negates the free shipping perk.
Like I stated, their Subscribe and Save was a very nice deal they had for a while, but then they started jacking up prices and substituting the quality of the product (while branding them a higher end model, ie, their diapers).
I guess the biggest benefit would be Prime Streaming. But just like Netflix, it's not like they get the newest and greatest movies coming out, so it will become stale at some point with the limited amount of "good" movies you can watch.
I think I just had it with Amazon. I ordered a book for my daughter on February 6. At the time, it stated it had 6 in stock. So of course, I quickly ordered and had it sent via Prime Shipping. A few days later, it still states that it's "Waiting to be Shipped". When I checked back a week after I ordered it, the message was changed to "Item not shipped. We will contact you when the item ships." I figured it was due to the snow, so I patiently waited.
Fast forward to today, I check and still has the same message. I chat with Amazon, and the rep states that it's out of order and they'll notify me when it's in stock.... ? Wait, what? That's not what it said when I ordered it.... which is why I ordered it from Amazon.
So I ask if he can do anything else? He states he can change the shipping to one day but he does not know when it will arrive at their warehouse. So to make up for the time I spent to talk to the rep, I asked for some credit to get another book for my daughter. He said he'll give me $5 AFTER he talks to the appropriate department and investigate the situation. WTF? So basically he didn't believe me when I stated that it was still in stock when I ordered. Thanks Amazon. You made my decision in not renewing Prime much easier.Comment

Amazon usually has good customer service but I don't think it's out of the question to look into it. I mean you could be lying. He doesn't know that.MLB: Texas Rangers

Re: Amazon Prime price going up... $20- $40
This is just a cost vs. benefit analysis. If you don't plan on spending $8.33 - $10 (on average) in shipping per month, prime at the proposed new rate isn't worth it for you.
If you're going to come out ahead even after the proposed price increase, then it doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense to cancel just to prove a point. You're still winning, you just aren't winning as much.
Having to pay taxes (or not) factors into the decision as well.Last edited by GAMEC0CK2002; 02-19-2014, 07:51 PM.Comment
