Lex can be somewhat funny but if he's out and out comic relief it's not going to work...at all. The thing I liked about Gene Hackman's portrayal back in the day was that he was menacing but he could drop a somewhat funny line but he was NOT treated like a joke. I fear if they make Luthor comedic in this flick then it's going to take the edge off him completely.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Batman Vs Superman - Dawn Of Justice
I don't see him as all comic relief at all. So far, he's only cracked one joke that I've seen (then again, I haven't seen the newest trailer, but commercials have come in that shows that shot).
I thought his "The red capes are comin'" line was just pure awesomeness, not comic relief.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Batman Vs Superman - Dawn Of Justice
My desire to see this movie gets lower and lower the more information they release. Don't get me wrong I'll still see it because I like to see every big action movie in a loud 3d theater for effect. But wowSpoilerThere is no way to do Doomsday and Darkseid justice in the same movie. Doomsday has by far one of the coolest origin stories in all of comics and it really feels like he is going to be a throwaway character especially given Tatopoulos' said that Doomsday isn't just the final act and Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman face an even larger threat in Dawn of Justice.
Darkseid and mind control explains the soldiers and angry superman scene but it feels like that could have been better explained by Luthor finding red kryptonite. It feels like they are going to either create three very shallow villains out of three of the most iconic comic villains in the DC world or they are going to have two weak villains (Luthor and Doomsday) occupy the action of the movie while Darkseid is just a threat. But introducing 4 completely new characters and one reboot in the same movie (unless it's 6 hours long) leads me to believe its going to be 2 hours of explosions and zero character development.Comment

Re: Batman Vs Superman - Dawn Of Justice
I imagine the Darkseid thing is just an omen, precursor to justice League, just like the constant Thanos thing in Marvel

I think it's funny that we don't know **** about Lex Luther in this movie, and everyone is saying how bad he's going to be.
We've heard him say like 4 things.
As far as Jesse Eisenberg being type casted before this movie, so was Heath Ledger before the Dark Knight.Boston Red Sox

Re: Batman Vs Superman - Dawn Of Justice
Spoiler
In earlier fighting scenes there are Darkseid paratroopers there, so hints have been there previously. I expect it'll be Thanos-style foreshadowing as part of a dream sequence or precognition mechanism that gives Batman further motivation, and in the end we'll get the heroes fighting to prevent this from becoming reality.

Re: Batman Vs Superman - Dawn Of Justice
The problem is with the internets is that there is too much talk and attention to this kind of crap. It's a movie. Usually and primarily made for entertainment. Hard to believe there used to be a time when a movie came out, there was a trailer, maybe you talked to your local, actual friends about it, then went to see it, talked about it some more and that was it. The coverage even a friggin' trailer gets is beyond ludicrous. I mean just look at this site alone. We sometimes have 122 pages (and counting) dedicated to talking about a movie before it even comes out.Comment

Yeah I know what you mean, I'm definitely guilty of looking too much into game previews/movie trailers from time to time.
I'm expecting a fun movie. It's a Zach Snyder movie. I don't expect it to handle subtle nuanced character development well, or to be exceptionally well paced. I expect great action and fun audio/visual elements.
I mean, it's superman and batman fighting, how could that suck?"Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

I think one of the issues is that MOS was savaged by the fans after it was released and Snyder directed that as well. I don't think we want to see another 2 hrs of more or less one long extended fight scene with unwarranted collateral damage.
I only look at the trailers and see some of the fan speculation at a cursory level. I more or less go into these movies with an open mind.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Batman Vs Superman - Dawn Of Justice
That's the thing that gets me. It's a movie. For entertainment purposes. Not necessarily for you're entertainment purposes. It's generalized. Not one person is the same. So when people bitch and get all crazy about stuff I just shake my head. It's back to the "every person thinks what they think is the most important thing in the world and others should cater to them" mentality. I've work in retail for 17+ years so I see this daily and it gets old really fast. Anyways my point was I just don't understand how people get so upset about things. People were up in arm about The Fantastic Four. I watched it. It was okay. Will I watch it again? Probably not. Am I mad I watched it in the first place? No. I spent 2.5 hours watching a movie that was just okay in my opinion. No loss there. The amount of time people waste getting mad boggles my mind. So the way I look at it is that this is a movie adaption of Batman vs. Superman. Sounds good. I'm down to see it. Pretty easy. If I wasn't into those characters then I'd pass. Again pretty easy. Like daflyboys said I miss the days when it was just me and my local friends who'd talk about movies.Comment
