I better never find that spin the bottle app on my daughter's phone. Here's a pretty good article about the show.

Want to start watching this, and it reminded of Lost for some reason, but now I see it was co created by one if the guys who made LostGig'em Aggies!Comment

Re: The Leftovers (HBO)
Finally watched the first episode.
Some things different from the book that are intriguing. But that stuff never bothered me. Don't need the show to be like the book.

Re: The Leftovers (HBO)
I'm guessing a lot of people felt this way, are they assuming we know what's going on already? Because it sure felt like they were making tons of assumptions.
I kinda liked it and set a season pass for it, but I was completely clueless during that pilot.Comment

Re: The Leftovers (HBO)
Am I the only one questioning the logic behind " let's make a show where 10% of the population vanishes without a trace, and the people left behind struggle to cope, yet we will not explain the circumstances around people disappearing, the show is not about that...."
I also resent the notion that "the fans ruined lost with their expectations of answers" sorry, but that's a cop out. They kept us on the hook for years teasing all these hidden explanations for everything, and then got upset when the majority of people were upset with their handling of things.
They didn't hVe to make people disappear in the manner that they did, if they want character driven drama series, they could make a show about anything, with no supernatural overtures and let the characters drive the plot. They made the show where some rapture type event went down, it is what the show is about, I expect there to be some closure about that event when I am done with the show, or there's no point in watching it.Comment

Yeah. This show isn't for you then.
I don't see a problem with the logic but I'm sure they know there are people that will agree with you.

Re: The Leftovers (HBO)
From what I've read they've already gone through a decent amount of the book. My guess is they use the book as a launching pad and then put their own twist on it. Whether that means actually answering the mystery or not, I have no idea.Member: OS Uni Snob Association | Twitter: @MyNameIsJesseG | #WT4M | #WatchTheWorldBurn

Re: The Leftovers (HBO)
I hate to get into a Lost argument again, but when did they promise to answer ever single detail of the mysteries of the Island? The whole point of the show, like The Leftovers, is about the people, not the event.Comment

Re: The Leftovers (HBO)
The event is the hook. And Lost added mystery on top of mystery on top of mystery. Of course people expect them to be explained. Lost went crazy with the mysteries. This show doesnt seem like its gonna go that insane with it.Comment

The Leftovers (HBO)
As far as intros go, yeah.
The book didn't do enough diving into people. That's why I look forward to the show because a book can only have so many pages if an author's intent is to just show us people struggling with events from three years prior.
Launching pad is a good term.

Re: The Leftovers (HBO)
I don't like it. I especially don't like how people are acting like 50% of population disappeared instead of acting like 2% of the population disappeared. So why the focus on this particular town? Because it went the "craziest?" Did it lose 25% of its population? For only 2% of the pop to be lost, they sure make it seem like there was more. Especially the way the Sheriff and his department are acting. I mean, really? Did the whole Department of Justice, FBI, Internal Affairs and DA offices disappear too? Otherwise they need to do their jobs or do them better.Unofficial OS Ambassador of "CPU vs. CPU"

Re: The Leftovers (HBO)
I went into it expecting to love it. Came away thinking it's one of those shows that is impossible to really "like", but it could still end up being captivating at the same time.
We'll see. I feel like this show might just not be for me, but I'll give it another chance.NFL: Bills
