I really think the second season could be epic when things are more fleshed out. The potential is certainly there for a truly memorable series.

Well then...
I still haven't figured out if the hunter/drifter guy who always has a dip in is real, or just a figment of Kevin's imagination. I mean, I seem to remember him interacting with other characters throughout this season, so I thought he was real, but I get the feeling that Kevin is bi-polar, with how he doesn't remember stuff.University of Minnesota Golden Gopher Hockey

Second season confirms no answers to anything this whole season?
Eidt: I saw the episode, the show has reached pretentious levels I didnt think existed. That final scene almost broke my back with the ridiculousness.Last edited by kingkilla56; 08-18-2014, 02:56 AM.Comment

So, we all agree the Cop is doing some Tyler Durden **** right? This episode pretty much confirmed that.
Also, Liv Tyler has some ulterior motive I cant pinpoint yet.

About the "event" that the GR is planning:
Am I right in assuming that those things that were delivered were those "dolls" that people pay a lot of money for, to have a body to bury of their departed? Thinking the GR ordered a ton of them, gonna go put them in their beds at the families homes or something. That'd be messed up!University of Minnesota Golden Gopher Hockey

Of course they are messed up. It sounds like they orchestrated the stoning of that lady to make her a martyr. They are all about not letting anyone forget so ofcourse they are going to put dolls in the peoples beds. Thats why they stole the pictures.About the "event" that the GR is planning:

Thing is, The cops wife didn't lose any immediate family so what is her angle?
The cop appears to be pulling some fight club stuff. Not sure if there is any other way to explain it. Funny thing is if the bald dip guy is an alter ego, was he there at the stoning of that lady?
Last nights episode was pretty ridiculous and I was thinking while watching it, there is no way this get renewed.
Not sure if I'll watch it or not. I don't really find any of the other characters compelling, its just like watching a bunch of manac people living depressing lives and doing things that seem irrational, yet underwhelming to me. I'm having a hard time finding the hook to this show.Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment

Re: The Leftovers (HBO)
Bald guy cant be his alter ego. He has to be real. The lady acknowledged his existence during the episode. And I think it was already renewed.
This show is starting to annoy me. That last scene was so obnoxious.Comment

Re: The Leftovers (HBO)
The scene on its own wasn't [super]annoying, the concept and buildup behind it was annoying and pretentious. The suicide was just obnoxious.
She goes on this diatribe against society wanting to live on after the October 14th event; like people arent suppose to live their lives anymore. People should spend every waking moment of their lives remembering? Well ok. Then she admits to orchestrating the stoning in the forest. To which she then makes a point of the officer remembering her name. Ok? How do these two things connect? So that cult wants you to remember people who die/vanish yet they are the ones who are breaking into homes and stealing photos and mementos? The same cult that gets upset when the priest comes over and tells them that he wont forget them?
Now, wait how exactly is killing yourselves going to get these messages across? The honcho lady implied that more of the cult would be dying. People already dont give a **** who you are and want you to go away, why would they care? Maybe Im missing something there.
Now for the kicker that annoyed me the most. The lady was OBVIOUSLY determined to die in that cabin. She threatened to ruin cop's life if she was brought back to safety. She tried her best to push all his buttons. And when she didnt get her way; well she killed herself. She wanted Cop to "finish what he started". All this for what? She died [killed herself] FOR WHAT?
Now I know all my questions can (but probably wont) be answered in future episodes. Thats fair, but in the bubble of this episode, that scene was the culmination of my frustrations with nothing making sense. The lady jabbing herself in the neck with glass after all that was just too ridiculous for me to take seriously.
I will say though, that her acting has been great and I'll miss her going forward.Comment

Re: The Leftovers (HBO)
I agree with this. I think most people want the chain smokers to just go away. Now lets say the cop hides the evidence. What has she died for, and as far as the public is concerned, who cares if all the White Smokers go away? In fact if they all disappeared under these same circumstances, I don't think anyone would look too hard for the killers. The scene on its own wasn't [super]annoying, the concept and buildup behind it was annoying and pretentious. One thing that came out, is that this is some pretty large organization with a bunch of branches/chapters. So I would imagine that the global ringleader surfaces in season 2, maybe he smokes a giant white cigar and wears a white tuxedo.Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment

Re: The Leftovers (HBO)
Luv that it has been renewed.Pretty original show...makes u think...makes u yell...but you come back. just like the classic Twin Peaks 25 years before its time! If Mr. Lynch was doing a cable drama like today...ohhh euphoria! For you youngsters when u have time check out Twin peaks. Only lasted 2 years..but when you think it was on regular TV ..big difference from todays world. I know ..i'm old ..I will go away now. :-)Comment
