        R.I.P. Stuart Scott

He was at the vanguard of the catchphrase heavy, informal and "hip" style of sportscasting despite what anyone may think of that that's an accomplishment in itself. He always seemed like a guy who was truly happy in his line of work and didn't take it like it was life and death. You could tell that he loved what he was doing and that there was always a mutual respect between he and his colleagues and more importantly for his line of work, he had the respect of those he covered.

ESPN wouldn't be what it is without his contributions as he was one of the pillars along with Brian Kenney, Keith Olbermann, Dan Patrick, Kenny Mayne etc etc in creating not only the sports lexicon we have now but for also for being irreverent, informative and most of all giving a sense of fun to the world of sports that we all love so much.

I will flip my pillow over tonight and remember that it's ALWAYS cooler on the other side of the pillow.

The hardest thing so far is trying to watch the memorial they're doing for him on SportsCenter.

It hurts trying not to cry.

I hadn't seen many updates on his condition lately, so I naively assumed / hoped he had beaten his illness...

IMHO, he always put an entertaining spin on any topic / broadcast he was involved in...

                RIP Stuart Scott...

I haven't teared up like this over a celebrity in quite some time. I started watching SC back in 93 and he was quite different than the usual "read scores, play comments" crowd. I became a fan instantly.

Been following his cancer story since. I really felt that he was going to beat it and return to the show full time. I feel for his daughters and my prayers are out to them.

I'm crying along with them. This is indeed a sad day.

RIP Stu, SC won't be quite the same ever again.

Really sad to hear this news. I was a huge fan of his style on SC, and his story was inspirational. Still remember him hosting Stump the Schwab many years ago..
