Broke my heart to see this when I woke up this morning. He was one of, if not the best thing about watching ESPN programming. Just seemed like a guy you'd wanna hang out and watch a ball game with. He truly was as cool as the other side of the pillow.

Man, I was bummed to see this. Loved him and Eisen on SC.

My wife was literally in tears when I showed her the ESPN tribute this morning…I didn't realize he was doing so poorly and this was shocking to wake up to. None of us is guaranteed a tomorrow…wake up each day and live it to it's fullest, grateful for each moment.

Re: RIP Stuart Scott 1965-2015
Just last week I was watching Sportscenter and it crossed my mind that I had not seen him lately and I kinda figured he wasn't doing to good. Feels almost like I lost a close friend. Again may he RIP and comfort come to his 2 daughters and family. The poster formerly know as "FLIGHTWHITE"Comment

Re: RIP Stuart Scott 1965-2015
He and steven a smith are my 2 favorite ESPN guys ever so this really sucks. I never heard that he had cancer back when he left and I didn't relize it was all the way back in 07 that he found out that he had cancer. I just now that after he left ESPN after a long time I started thinking why have I not seen him for so long? and then I found out he had cancer latter on and I was like what? I don't think I knew that he had cancer in till like last year or 2013 and I didn't know how bad it was or what kind of cancer. Cancer runs in my family really bad and my ant is going throw breast cancer for a second time right now so yeah cancer really dose blow.Comment

Re: RIP Stuart Scott 1965-2015
Watching this stuff on SportsCenter makes me tear up so badly. This man was fantastic.
Not knowing he had cancer is attributable to how he lived his life... to the fullest, despite all adversities.
I think what makes this so disheartening is I really see my dad in him.Last edited by Blzer; 01-04-2015, 11:50 PM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: RIP Stuart Scott 1965-2015
R.I.P. Stuart Scott
He was at the vanguard of the catchphrase heavy, informal and "hip" style of sportscasting despite what anyone may think of that that's an accomplishment in itself. He always seemed like a guy who was truly happy in his line of work and didn't take it like it was life and death. You could tell that he loved what he was doing and that there was always a mutual respect between he and his colleagues and more importantly for his line of work, he had the respect of those he covered.
ESPN wouldn't be what it is without his contributions as he was one of the pillars along with Brian Kenney, Keith Olbermann, Dan Patrick, Kenny Mayne etc etc in creating not only the sports lexicon we have now but for also for being irreverent, informative and most of all giving a sense of fun to the world of sports that we all love so much.
I will flip my pillow over tonight and remember that it's ALWAYS cooler on the other side of the pillow.
SportsCenter will never be the same from me as it was back in the early 90's. Back then I remember waking up early and putting SC on just to see what happened the night before. There was no checking the scores on the computer or smart phone. It was either SC or the newspaper if the game ended early enough.
I damn near missed the bus many times listening to the guys like Stu and the guys you two mentioned. The internet pretty much killed that, but remembering Stu has me feeling pretty nostalgic about how it used to be. Honestly, I do kind of miss it.
Back in the day Stu gave me and my friends a ton of catch phrase to use when we played sports against each other and I'm thankful for that. From all accounts was an awesome person and will be greatly missed. RIPMy 2K17 Boston Celtics MyLeague

Re: RIP Stuart Scott 1965-2015
I prob have saw the speech where he receives the Jimmy V Award and asks his youngest daughter to come up on stage and give him a hug about 5 times late last night...
Made me tear up every time, and yup...it's kinda happening again as I write this...

Re: RIP Stuart Scott 1965-2015
A few weeks back, it was reported he was in bad shape. I was watching SC, and they had taken a statement from Stuart Scott himself via Twitter, claiming that the rumors were untrue, a "swing and a miss."
Sportscaster til the end! Hugely influential public figure in the world of sports, and we didn't even realize it until we noticed the absence of his presence on SC or MNF.
