I'm glad Simmons is finally getting his due. The guy's been in a bajillion TV shows/movies and sort of hung around the acting periphery.

It's too bad it'll come at the expense of Edward Norton though. I thought he was great in Birdman.

Yeah, but long stints on Oz and The Closer. Throw in the Farmers Insurance commercials and J. Jonah Jameson and you get a very successful actor. Of course this will take him to the next level.

He makes the best J. Jonah Jameson ever. No one will usurp him!

Boyhood may have been ambitious, but it really did nothing for me. It was like watching a spliced together home movie. I lost interest after about 45 minutes, though probably even before then.

The Imitation Game was good, but from what I read there were a good number of inaccuracies. Still was a good flick and something I didn't know about WWII.

As I said in the "What movies have you watched recently?" thread, if you had to see one movie based upon one acting performance, Whiplash should be on your list.

Just saw this reaction to the snub for The Lego Movie. Pretty funny response by Philip Lord:

It's too bad that Carrell won't get more of a push as best actor. He was fantastic in Foxcatcher. He nailed the part and some, IMO.

The SAG Awards were tonight and they usually do a decent job of foreshadowing Oscar winners.

He's a longshot. I hope Keaton wins. I was surprised this was his only Oscar nom. I thought he got one for Clean And Sober.

Everything I've heard is pointing towards Redmayne winning fairly easily, though.

I still need to see Birdman. It's on the list of things to do, that's for sure.

If he didn't, he should have.

No surprises here and glad Birdman got most of everything it was in.
Also Whiplash getting a lot of love too was great, it was good to see J.K. up there and give a nice speech.

Also glad Big Hero 6 got best animated and Patricia Arquette for her performance in Boyhood. And finally Julianne Moore gets an oscar, surprising this is her first.

I didn't catch all of the Oscars but caught some of the musical numbers and damn, Lady Gaga killed it, never knew she could sing like that.

Not saying Boyhood got snubbed at all for anything, but I thought it was going to take more away than it did just out of knowing how the Academy works. I'm surprised how much GBH received, actually. They stole Production Design and Musical Score from Interstellar, them bastards!

I wonder how the ratings were this year. IMO they really needed films like Interstellar and Gone Girl to fill the BP nominations for that alone, because all of these other movies (except American Sniper, according to NPH) did not really draw crowds.

Speaking of which, I thought NPH was a terrible host. I just wish Seth MacFarlane did it every year haha. Ellen was pretty good, too.
