Great review Jarebare, I have the same feelings as you.

Do you think a Shi'ar story line would work down the line? Hoping they can get that far.

I watched this on my Fire Stick last night and mannnnnnnnn, I'm glad I didn't pay to see this movie. It was definitely a snoozer.

Wow that'd be great. I would love to see the imperial guard (Gladiator!!!!) on the big screen. Considering pretty much every other major franchise has incorporated aliens of some sort, I guess why not

Honestly I think it's hard to predict. Considering all that Magneto has been through at this point I could see them using an Asteroid M plot as at least a part of a future movie. It seems like we can for sure expect

though who knows how long he will last, I kind of wish wasn't always one-and-done for bad guys in so many superhero movies. Obviously we can't say for sure but it seems highly likely we also see

          .

Really hope whoever gets cast as X-23 (not a spoiler, we all know Jackman is retiring from Wolverine) is a real badass and pulls it off.

If I saw the Shi'ar Imperial Guard and specifically Gladiator on the big screen call it a life. I'd be so satisfied lol.

I think we've talked about Gladiator in party chat and how I feel about him.

I really liked it. Definitely not one of the best comic movies, but still a good flick. I'll buy it day one.

                Re: X-Men: Apocalypse

I thought it was kind of eh and rambled a bit. The time frame/storyline discontinuity between the 1st 3 X's and these 3 bugged me. I also was not a fan of the castings for Jean and Cyclops. Emo Nightcrawler doesn't do anything for me either. And Storm's origin of coming from Africa (not Egypt) gets thrown out the window too, eh? Also, the novelty of this version of Quicksilver has run out. I prefer the much more authentic one from Avengers/Ultron. This was below 1st Class for me with DOFP leading the way.

I definitely agree with the new castings being kind of weak in this one. It was just some weak acting. I felt like they had no passion, except Storm, who is underutilized in the film. I couldn't agree more about the bolded. My biggest gripe with the series by far. The timeline makes zero sense.

But, yeah, I definitely enjoyed it for what it was. Some decent action.

I really like the Quicksilver approach though, because in the comics I vividly remember him describing to someone, I think Magneto, that for him he's not moving fast, in fact he describes it as everyone else around him being really slow, saying "it's like always being in line at an ATM" or something like that. I gotta go back and find the full quote. I feel it is done pretty brilliantly.

I can see the appeal. The look is pretty goofy though. Quicksilver in the books was a proud, fiesty man. This is a kid who's living in his mom's basement and wears goggles. Plus....transporting people around at his speed would probably cause irreparable damage.

Not as irreparable as staying inside an exploding house.

Just watched this yesterday. Thought it was quite good and really enjoyed it. Like where they are going with it. I thought Apocalypse was fantastic.
