Re: Supergirl (CW)
Alex needs to go. Period. Her acting and writing is cringe worthy to me. I'm not a fan of Lena either. I feel she needs to be more diabolical and methodically manipulative to give more of a draw there too.
I want the show to succeed but the writing just doesn't seem planned out, it's episode by episode versus subtly building sub-plots and creating tangents to be tied up later.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.
It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.Comment

That's what I'm doing, presuming it gets better?

Re: Supergirl (CW)
Just seems like something which could have bigger implications than people imagine, so it'll be interesting to see how the show does change, or at the very least, just how the acting on the show changes with everyone being so much more at ease. Based on comments people had about the situation, it seems like some of these allegations relating to the show might have even occurred while casting for it began, so it's not like this all stemmed from one big incident, it's been going on for years.Comment

Re: Supergirl (CW)
I've already mentioned it abunch of times about how I felt Alex is weakest of the main characters on the show. Though Lena is probably one of the stronger ones on the show. She's one of the few who has actually gotten actually character development and growth. The one criticism is more on the actress than anything, but she can't do accents. They should just let her use her normal voice instead of having her going from her normal voice to American voice halfway into a sentence. Don't see the issue with that.
If there's one bit of hope for those who don't enjoy the show, it's the fact that one of their big producers/writers is gone. Given peoples reaction to everything that was going on, to me it sounds like something that made it uneasy for people going to work each day(especially the women working on the show). And the irony of a show that is pushing female empowerment to have a male producer/writer who ends up getting fired for these sexual allegations made by multiple female workers.

Interesting point. It'd be great if this terrible situation resulted in a positive change.Ravens----Yankees----Comic Book JunkieComment

Re: Supergirl (CW)
Nothing related to anything talked about on here, but just an interview that Melissa Benoist did on Jimmy Kimmel(mainly promoting a new series she's starring in, but briefly mentions Supergirl). Figured I'd post it since we don't get to see as many interviews with stars of CW shows compared to other show, which sucks cause some of these shows sound like they got some people who are actually cool in real life and not just some uptight celebrity.

Re: Supergirl (CW)
I disagree with almost everybody about the state of Supergirl. Melissa Benoist is the clear star of the show but that's a good thing. That being said I do have problems with the show.
Alex, Winn, and J'onn are solid characters (IMO), and Lena is a delight but I don't know about her pairing with Jimmy unless they get a lot more creative.
Brainiac needs to stay or recur often, but Mon-el and wife need to go back to the future.
I'm really enjoying the show and since it's a lock for renewal I'll be enjoying it for several more episodes.
I like Reign as a villain and most especially likeSpoilerthe rumors of her redemption.Comment

Nobody is saying the show is bad or anything, but compared to a show like Flash, this one doesn't have the type of deep character stories in it or big cliffhanger type moments in episodes.
Reign like I mentioned before has been the best villain character the series has had, especially building up both her human side and kryptonian side, though she's really been one of the few who has gotten a proper/full build. That's why I like the Lena/Kara/Samantha best friend stuff because all 3 have been built up so well and all this is building to that relationship imploding in many ways too(first, once they find out Samantha is Reign, and then the eventual Lena finding out Kara is Supergirl)Last edited by Majingir; 01-21-2018, 01:25 AM.Comment

Flash is hitting it out of the park this year (IMO) but not so much last year. The powers that be of that show acknowledged as much.Comment

Re: Supergirl (CW)
Episode was alright. Showed unique interaction with Supergirl and the former villains.
The Alex and Ruby stuff was kind of cheesy, and the Maggie stuff I found unnecessary. I'm fine with Maggie out of the show.
And like many recent episodes, the build for Reign has been great. Showing more of Samantha side here like her biggest fear(which I hope comes true), and her not knowing what happens when she blacks out. Given she confronted Alex about it, I really think we see everyone finding out she's Reign by the mid-midseason finale.Comment

Re: Supergirl (CW)
One thing that I think might help (me at least) get more invested in the show is watching interviews and panel discussions with the cast. Even just having actors half answer stuff in character is funny too(specifically the Lena-Winn part during Comic Con). Lets you see different sides of these actors we don't get to see on tv(minus Melissa, who even admits she's basically Kara in real life, which is as cool as it sounds. You can tell this easily by watching any interview of hers. Guess that's why she's so good at the "character").
Never realized just how different some people talk in real life VS the show. Actor playing Martian Manhunter sounds nothing like he does on tv. Lena like I've said before should just be allowed to use regular voice over American accent.
Interesting thing is that during an interview, they saidSpoilerCatLast edited by Majingir; 01-27-2018, 12:59 PM.Comment

Re: Supergirl (CW)
I'm sure it means nothing, but they mentioned Maxwell Lord! When comparing possible attackers on Edge, they referenced an attacker on Lord in s1. Nice to see they remembered he exists after 2 years. Though like Cat, I'm guessing him not being there is simply because of actor not being able to basically live in Canada.Comment
