    Re: Narcos

tried watching the first episode pof season 3.

    First

I was a fan of the villain Pablo.

In season 3 it seems they have no main villains and rather put the focus on the main detective whereas in seasons 1 and 2 he was a side story to pablos main story .

I looked forward to pablos acting more and didn't care for the detectives that much

season 3 relies on the detective acting...

I don't think he can carry a show the same way Pablo could.

Must be watching a different show. I'm on episode 4 now and the notion that they're relying on the "detective's acting" or even based around the Agents/Police couldn't be further from the truth.

So you loved first two seasons but after one episode of S3 you are not going to give it a fair shake?

                Re: Narcos

I could understand that more if season two didn't open up it's scope and solely focused on Escobar like the first season. It set up Cali Cartel more than enough to paint them as a much bigger threat and more villainous. If that wasn't clear by the end of season two it's crystal by the end of the first episode of season three.

With that said Moura' s performance as Escobar will leave a void. He was nuanced which furthered his character and made him more complex. Whether any of the Cali Cartel attains that level remains to be seen, but as big a player as Escobar was Cali Cartel makes his empire look like child's play. It's fascinating and almost memorizing to me how large scale their endeavor was.

Escobar was an easy face to attach to, but Cali is the main round to me.

Very underwhelmed with Season 3. I guess it goes to the point of the poster who spoke highly of Wagner Maura and his swagger as Don Pablo. I feel it had 'cool' moments, but overall it didn't hit me like season one and "Plata or Plomo"

                      Re: Narcos

I'm through episode 7 and some people have started picking up the slack, but I think the real "star" of this season is the writing. There are many players and plots, but they've been developing them all seamlessly while creating high-class, tension filled drama.

I was worried that having no Pablo would create a vacuum, but I think they've surpassed the previous seasons so far with me. I think they squandered some opportunities in season one to be more compelling outside of Pablo, but since the second half of season 2 they've really opened up the scope of the series and it's been beneficial to all those not named Escobar.

I finally finished up season 3 last night. Episode 9 is ridiculous for 45 minutes.

Overall great season. I wish they would have spent more time with the Cali cartel, but they covered a lot in one season and did it very well.

First two seasons were great, but season 3 is very boring... I'm not watching it any more as I have turned my focus to Queen of the south....it's pretty dam good..

I enjoyed this season a lot, very well played chess game going on. Writing and directing was on point. Pena was fantastic and like Jorge too.

So where are they going next??

The drama was a bit more understated, but there were so many capers/cat and mouse scenarios going on I don't see how anybody could be let down with this season.
