I thought the Finale was great. Definitely could've done without the extra 30 min and made the pacing quicker. negan was great and seeing Rick just speechless and pathetic was hard to watch

I don't mind the cliffhanger. People are so spoiled by binge watching these days. Ugh. Even friends did cliffhangers. Lol

That was a cliffhanger for cliffhangers sake. It was bad. Enough with the people are spoiled instant gratification nonsense.

It's the only defense to what was pulled tonight.

        Season six was a waste.

Re: The Walking Dead (Season 6)

Lazy, lazy, lazy writing to the conclusion of one of the best halves of a season they've ever done. This episode wasn't bad, though weaker than previous ones in this half. But it really built to making Rick look like he was gonna end up being Negan's bitch. They finally made the Saviors look strong. Everyone was saying this episode was so terrifying and emotional and crazy, it ended up being no different than every other episode.

It was really the point of having a cliffhanger to just have a cliffhanger. Wouldn't they want people (especially non comic readers) to hate Negan, since he's the bad guy? This doesn't accomplish that. Showing that he murdered one of our beloved ones from our group, particularly if it'd be someone that's been with us since Atlanta, it would make us more prone to despising Negan. While I do think JDM played a solid first impression, having this cliffhanger and the summer of guessing who was it just doesn't do anything. If the show would be back in a month, sure. But it's gone until fall, no one is gonna be thinking about who went on a date with Lucille when they're grilling out on the 4th of July. I will honestly not think about who it was until maybe a week before the premiere, cause it ruins it. Why not rip people's hearts out right away and let that simmer all summer, instead of this idiotic guessing game.

As for who it was, I think that by Negan's line of "feeding the kid's other eye to his father" can eliminate that it was Rick or Carl who got Lucille. And man am I gonna be pissed if it's someone lesser. There's only two choices that can make this work.

I actually think a better cliffhanger would have been having Negan and Lucille come out of the RV, and not say anything, end of episode. Like the ending of Force Awakens, no words, just an imposing presence. Then come back with the speech and battery.

Who? I have not heard this name mentioned once. If it's from the comics, can we please just stop mentioning comic things?

It's happened frequently in this thread this season.

Re: The Walking Dead (Season 6)

The cliffhanger was just unnecessary. They had what was probably one of the best/most intense speeches TWD's history, then they ruin it with a ratings ploy. Weak. Just as many people would have been talking about TWD today if they didn't use the cliffhanger and I'm sure there won't be as many upset people today. After this stunt it has to be one of the originals meeting Lucille. Michonne or Abe would be cool too, however if it's anyone less than that it's a weak cop out.

Oh well, since the they stuck us with an hack cliffhanger let's talk about the real tragedy of this season... and that's what they've done to my girl Carol. She went from the baddest B on the show to super annoying in a matter of two or three episodes. She's been my favorite character by far since back at the prison, but if she continues down this path I won't even be sad to see her go. Look at the flowers, Carol. Look at the flowers!

                  The Walking Dead (Season 6)

I won't be upset if a secondary character got the bat. I don't wanna see Glenn or Daryl gone, and Negan doesn't know who's who in the group besides Rick being the leader and Carl being his son.

They talked about making the scene jump back and forth to shake people from trying to figure out who it was on Talking Dead, but I think it was on Eugene and Aaron's side (Carl was over there too). Plus, Aaron's been on recon missions for who knows how long... these people might have recognized him as such. Eugene also seems like a strong candidate, seeing as how he was the decoy and also escaped from a previous capture. Plus, his giving of the recipe to make bullets to Rick... what's he around for? Eugene's been working up to being a player in the game, taking the bat for his group is the ultimate sacrifice. I dunno. You could make a case for any character.

But why they gotta make that squish sound when the bat comes down? I'm stuck on that. Made me kinda sick. That sound effect alone puts this as #2 behind the Terminus trough scene as the nastiest.

I honestly think they don't know yet who they want to kill. I don't know if they want Negan hated or respected by viewers. The only two that I can think of that would "take it like a champ" and get up after the initial swing while fitting into Negans rules are Daryl and Abraham. But something is telling me they didn't focus multiple episodes on Eugene for no reason.

If they kill Daryl then the gloves are off and Jeffrey dean Morgan is just going to be kicked off as a meaner more ruthless governor. If it's Abraham or Eugene then they set up a scenario where his character can have more depth because viewers would be open to it. They have talked so much about JDM and how he is received by fans I think they truly didn't know how fans would react and were hesitant to commit.

I don't think this show has the balls to kill Daryl.

It was going great until that fade to black. There's a good chance it'll be spoiled in the lead up to the premiere and frankly, the conversation around the show would probably be more engaging if they showed us who got Lucille. Let's not even bring Game of Thrones into this as the circumstances around that storyline is way different (and book accurate) -- that wasn't a cliffhanger for cliffhanger's sake.

I'm a fan, so I'm definitely gonna watch more Walking Dead, but that finale went from "holy **** that was so intense" to "eh, okay." I'm not even dying to find out who's dead, so I suppose that fails as a cliffhanger.

Folks we do realize that there is always more than one possibility when they write these things right? And I think they know who they want but are also aware of fans. Say what you will but fans are a "power" when it comes to this stuff. They are also an annoyance. It's the same thing with gaming. Developer makes a game, fans complain, developer works on the complaint even if it doesn't make the product better or even if it worsens the product.

                            Anyways,

If they really wanted to do a cliffhanger right they would have said all along they signed Jeffery Dean Morgan on for Negan in season 7. And said nothing more. The the last ten minutes of last night do what they did all up until he points the bat and says eeny then cut to black. That's a proper cliffhanger. Of you could just cut it when he opens the door and steps out of the rv. Either of those with him introduced as a surprise a season early would have had all fans going bananas.

I don't think Ride will have any bearing on the choice personally. AMC would always prioritize TWD over Ride. Norman would never be in conflict choosing which to film.
