Since Stannis and Shireen are no longer in play, it could get messy. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but there's no legitimate Baratheons left. Gendry is probably still rowing his boat somewhere, but he has no claim at the throne as nobody knows who he is after Ned's death.

Tommen would have to name his heir unless Margaery is pregnant. We know the Sparrow is trying to get her to lay with Tommen so that can happen. As to who Tommen would name, your guess is as good as mine.. Probably Ser Pounce.

I saw an article on this and they claimed it goes to Cercei.

Agreed. Other than scenes with The Hound, it was a snoozefest.
And would the writers please refrain from writing any more scenes with Tyrion, Greyworm and his gf?
Those scenes are absolute death. What a complete and colossal waste of time.

I never thought I would miss Joffrey but I am starting to. This Tommen kid really needs to let his balls drop. Definitely a spineless little B

Then she goes to the temple and points her little sword at the weirdo and skips away. What did this all really do. It seems like anything else could have have prompted her to want to go back to Westeros and proclaim her name. Waste of time.

Then you have basically a scene from the muppet show where 3 people sit around telling useless jokes.

Newsflash there are only 15 episodes left and they wasted hours on a worthless Arya plotline and waste valuable minutes each episode with worthless banter between the dwarf and the unsullied. Yet they only take 2 seconds to show the return of Danyreas coming back on a dragon. I am pretty sure that was a pivotal moment.

The only thing really worthwhile about this episode was Cercei tipping her hand too soon. Choosing violence was her ace in the hole and now it's gone she could be cooked but I have a feeling that Jamie is coming back with the army.

What a waste of the black fish. All this hype and he go down without a whimper.

I'm not sure if the directing is horrible or the writing is bad.

This is starting to look like Martin was watching Lost and thought the ending stunk so he was going to write a better version with swords and magic. It's on the verge of turning into a convoluted mess.
Completely agree regarding Arya. I was really looking forward to her storyline. I imagined she'd learn the dark arts of being a faceless assassin to help her family and destroy those who raised arms against the Starks.
But she really learned nothing. Nothing that couldn't have been learned from any decent swordsman out there.
Heck, they could have made The Hound her teacher. Arya was never more interesting than when she was traveling with him.
Other than fighting in the dark, what did she learn? Nothing. Only that her character makes for boring filler.
If they really wanted to kill this show, they should have an hour-long episode of her serving the faceless god and the Imp and his two buddies putting on a variety hour show.

I really hope the season finale gives me something.
Last season was questionable and this season is worse.
Seasons 1 thru 4 were magic. I ordered HBO just for this program. Now, not so much.

              Yeah

It definitely didn't make sense to me that despite the Faceless Man deal being a part of her story for like, well what seems like forever now, that she never ended up learning how to be Faceless. I dunno. I really expected her to go full assassin, and once being fully trained and powerful going back to Westeros to finish off her list. I guess I just don't get it right now. I mean she definitely has some training and can take care of herself but what was the point of all that now that it's over? Just her being able to run and jump like she is in the Matrix? I legitimately laughed when the girl was chasing Arya and the girl looked straight up like the T1000 in Terminator 2.

Basically, when I thought Arya was going to become a real assassin, I loved her story, but when it became clear that wasn't gonna happen I was just like....sooooo what's the point, let's move on here, but they basically just stalled her for the last 3 episodes or so.

Also, why haven't we seen Bran in a couple episodes (unless we did and I am forgetting something, which is probably the case)?

I'm also at the point where I think it's time for Dany to start kicking ***. Speeches and endearing herself to more and more groups of people has run its course. She's got an army. She's got dragons. Leggo. Time to move, time to hit the accelerator on her arc.

I do like the idea of a Game of Thrones Variety show ala the muppets but instead of statler and waldorf, you have Tyrion and Varys providing sarcastic quips while the unsullied in his fozzy bear voice tells horrible jokes.

This was definitely a low point of season. Might have hit a low for the series, but they will bring it in episode 9 as they always do. I just hope it doesn't limp out of this season.

They should have waited for the books to be completed. I think it was a big mistake to go forward without a defined roadmap, especially when you are letting the Lost directors put their hands on it. It could be a disaster.

This is the first time I can remember since maybe S1 where there is a 3 episode stretch (and counting) of very little action. Two people die in this episode but you don't even see it happen.

Also, I do feel like Tyrion is just misplaced and under-used right now. I feel like he was the highlight of the show not too long ago and now he's just thrown in for a few scenes here or there

I'm pretty sure that's not how it works, though. She couldn't become nameless and keep her list all at the same time. She had to give up one and her loyalty to her family, and her list, and all of that outweighed becoming a full assassin.

the first is someone from the books, the second is a major theory that the show killed, but is hurling towards in the books.

Cleganbowl is referring to the Hound vs. the Mountain possible happening. It looked like it was lining up to that with Cersei would use trial by combat and choose the Frankenmountain as her representative and perhaps the Hound would have found his way into the faith and be their representative. The Mountain and the Hound were brothers and the scar on the hound is from the Mountain holding his head to a fire when they were young.
