Re: Kiefer Sutherland-"Designated Survivor"
I'm enjoying this so far, seems funny hearing them curse now. Like the new additions to the show, Anthony Edwards as Mars Harper and especially love Julie White character Lorraine Zimmer. She's a hard *** and a trip.-= Never argue with an idiot, they drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.=- Edward MurphyComment

It's going to be hard for us to talk about this since we don't know which pace everybody will be at.
I guess we have to say things like...

Episode 1 spoilers:
SpoilerI got nothin'.

Anyway, I'm halfway through episode 1, and man this show feels so completely different. That is nothing but a good thing, though. I'm sure I've mentioned it somewhere in this thread before, but ABC programs have a certain tone and element to them that is just too rose-colored for my taste. This flies right through that. It's not just the cursing, either. I feel like Netflix watchers could legitimately give this show a chance and might not give a hoot for anything they saw in the first two seasons based on that feeling alone.
I'm just glad the show is back on. Now, to find out if Scream will ever get a third season...Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

I used to watch this on ABC, i'm not even sure where i left off at. Eventually i would just have it on while i did other things. Started off well enough, but like you said, it got very Formulaic.
How is it on Netflix? Better pacing and more interesting? I might pick it back up if it's worth it now.Comment

What I do like about watching it now is that there are no commercial breaks. I don't mean because I hate commercials or I hate fast-forwarding, but because the pace isn't ever killed. Scenes aren't shot/edited for some sort of: "Okay, we have to end on a cliffhanger to start the next segment after the commercial." Think of if House was commercial-free... then they couldn't end every segment with something going wrong with the patient. It's that kind of thing that is improved upon here.
The show is produced significantly better under Netflix's wing.
EDIT: Also, non-spoilery, I'm suddenly thinking about an instance in a previous episode that I think might come up later, otherwise it may be a red herring.
I'll spoiler-tag my speculation on a possible foreshadowing moment.
SpoilerFrom episode #4:
SpoilerRegarding Emily:
Spoiler
They certainly made a big notion toward Emily opening her envelope, but never actually reading it before Lorraine calls her into the other room. With Seth being so curious about it, I wonder if he was able to get to it beforehand and somehow alter her results from 'positive' to 'negative' without her knowing, just to put her feeble mind at ease.Last edited by Blzer; 06-12-2019, 04:39 PM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Kiefer Sutherland-"Designated Survivor"
I agree 100%. I finished the episodes and thought it was pretty good but not as good as season 1 imo. I do like the freedoms that being on Netflix provides the show with though.EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.Comment

Re: Kiefer Sutherland-"Designated Survivor"
I finished the season. I'll agree that overall S1 was probably better, but its duration might have played a factor in that for me as well. This only being ten episodes (albeit 50 minutes each, which is more like 11.5 episodes in length or half a season) did keep the focus tighter on one specific aim, so it knew what it was doing in that aspect.
However, there were two-to-three-ish relationship-based subplots (out of maybe six or seven?) that I felt were not needed as they ended up not tying into the overall story at all (and I felt one was actually only included because they felt it "was needed" because 2019), and there was another impacting subplot that in some instances did not fit with this show's mold, and I wish that even if the outcome ended up being the same that they found a different way to execute it. It's those two things that slightly brought down the season for me, given that they had so little airtime to cover what it is that they did, so they stood out more.
Otherwise, as I have said, moving to Netflix provided nothing but a great end-product. It kind of even allowed the actors to venture more and expand their horizons with what they were able to do, which made the acting feel much more authentic in general. Every new character was a great inclusion, and the actors fit them super well (actually, one guy was ugh but I'm glad he was used in super small doses).
I'm certain they'll keep this show going if they are able, and I think the stories will be focused more on governance like S1 and S2 were able to do and surround the White House more so the entire time than usual.Last edited by Blzer; 06-14-2019, 06:20 PM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Kiefer Sutherland-"Designated Survivor"
Well this series is officially dead. Not a fan of Netflix leaving us with that ending.
